Simply relocate Canucks and Pettersson takes off. No trading necessary.

Canucks fans will want elite #1C return for a guy who has never shown he is one, only potential a few years ago, and other fans will want to pay 2C level return (Kadri) maybe with a sweetener if they really believe in potential.

All I can say is, he has as many seasons not looking like a #1 C as he did looking like one. He said in the summer, while holding out, he would leave Vancouver if they weren't winning when his deal ends. They would be smart if there is a GM out there willing to pay #1C value to cash out on this guy before he potentially either never turns into a #1 C or does and leaves as a UFA in his prime.

Oh look another "expert opinion" , he was playing like a #1C up until last year, so your "he has as many seasons looking like a #1C as he did not looking like one" makes ZERO sense, either do some research or just pay attention.

Never once said he would leave Vancouver, stop making up narratives, what he did say was that he wants to play on a team that is a contender, like most Swedish people he is brutally honest, what should he have said? that he's happy playing on a mediocre team run by an absolute potato?

Pettersson is still struggling even with the coaching change. Which makes this year even more concerning.

Miller, Boeser, Hughes and Horvat have seen improvement under Boudreau.

It would be for another change of scenery young stud. Much like Laine Dubois swap.
Tough to come by which means likely he's not moved.

I think if Barzal had continued to struggle on the Islanders that would be an interesting one for one swap. Barzal is a BC guy, though not a Canucks fan, but age, upside and previous NHL performance and pedigree would have been close.

Pretty sure Pettersson will rebound in time but one thing I personally don't like about his regression/under performing is he hasn't physically matured much beyond his rookie year 4 years ago when he was producing at 60+ points.

The thinking then was if you had this 19 year old string bean putting up points like that, shooting the puck like he does, etc, imagine what he can do at 190 pounds, at 205 pounds. You could project a development curve and physical maturation process like a young Sundin to his development. Or even a Nylander as someone had mentioned. Right now he's playing with a lack of confidence and looks light on his feet and lacking explosiveness. So there's quite a number of things to work on to rehabilitate his game to where it was and where it needs to go.

Fiala + Rossi + Greenway. Boom.

More like for either Eriksson-Ek (shutdown matchup C) + Addison (mobile RHD), or Brodin (skilled, mobile defensive D) + Khusnutdinov (intriguing skilled two-way C who's played with Podkolzin, who's on our team). We'd be tougher to play against with the strength up the middle that Joel brings, and potential from Addison. With Brodin I hope Rutherford flips Hamonic for a 3rd C (or clears his cap) and then we'll have such strong defensive depth (plus Marat can help up the middle in the not-too-distant future).

Either way, we're good for wingers and smaller guys.

The kid is just having a rough season and a bit. I'm no Canucks fan but I believe he will bounce back and end up being a 75 to 80 point center.

Barzal for Pettersson makes a lot of sense. I could see that trade getting expanded as well.

Pettersson + Boeser

Barzal + Dobson

I doubt the Isles have any interest trading either Barzal or Dobson, they are young core players that play key roles for the team now and going forward. You're barking up the wrong tree. It doesn't make sense for the Isles at all.

Look for a young RHD elsewhere.

Makes no sense to trade EP40 this year.

He is at his lowest value right now and the Nucks are not in a hurry to make more changes considered how well the team has been playing lately.

It would have to be for an Adam Fox or Cale Makar type RD (and there's less than 0% chance Pettersson gets anywhere near either in a trade currently).

Beyond that you give him time to figure it out.

No to trading him,,I still think he is playing with a bad wrist...he was frustrated before all the changes happened, but with the new Coach,it will come back,,give it time...

Trading Elias Pettersson when his value is at its lowest is the single dumbest thing the Canucks could do right now.
I really don’t think his value has taken much of a hit. GMs see the ups and downs of an nhl career regularly and short term downswing like Petterson has had with all the unusual circumstances in play wouldn’t worry them much imo.
