I'd probably do Mattews and Marner for McDavid + the additional 10 million in cap space not gonna lie.

For the record I’d trade anyone for McDavid. I’m just trying to make sure I stay on the same wave length as everyone here. Mcdavid chokes in the playoffs and would choke here. I just want ppl to know that.

If you had a team that could great more skating room for him, he may do better. If other scoring options were on the ice and they couldn't adapt their entire game plan on stopping McDavid. Or perhaps he can adapt to differing styles of hockey as his career progresses. Right now I would say Draisaitl is the guy better fitted for playoff hockey.
The issue isn’t McDavid wanting to come to Toronto. He does and he will. Mark my words because I know he is when his contact is up. I grew up at Yonge and Davis drive. Like I said trust me I know.
That being said the issue is Pig nose won’t want to go to Edmonton. He would go to the Rangers, LA or Arizona so a 3 way trade would have to be made. Edmonton would have to receive back not just elite players and top picks but massive cap dumps off their books.
The issue isn’t just players for players, losing McDavid cost the owners money. You have to compensate the loss of business for all the extra revenue McDavid brings in. We are talking hundreds of millions over his contract.

I think Drai got better stats than McDavid in the playoffs.

And Leafs still have 4 forwards using half the Cap.
And if McDavid and AM don't show up, it is all too familiar.
The PP should be better with McDavid.
Having said that, McDavid did managed to get 1 goals and 3 assists in 4 games, so he is PPG in this year playoffs.

I hope this id just sarcasm.
WPG just focused purely on him and played well defensively against him. Its actually possible to shut down certain players if done correctly even if they're a superstar.

Matthews and Marner for McDavid would be an overpay if it was pre salary cap. With the cap the Oilers would be creating the same issue the Leafs are trying to get out from so that evens it up.
Any Trade the Leafs made for Mcdavid involving Matthews would require Marner or Tavares getting traded somewhere. Plus the Oilers won't want to trade him anyway unless the relationship sours publicly or the team goes right to the bottom of the standings for some reason. Hard to imagine a deal that works out for both teams...

If I am Colorado I do not make that trade. But it is scary that they could. And it would make Edmonton better. And Colorado would still be the best team in the Western conference.

McDavid has only been in the playoffs twice in which case he has 11 goals in 21 games.
Marner has 5 in 32. In the playoffs every year.

I hope you realize that the post was made only semi-seriously, because there isn't a chance in hell that Edmonton moves, by far, the best player in the world, for less than a significant overpay.
People saying "Matthews +" is LOL bad. Despite the fact that neither McDavid or Matthews were good in the playoffs this year, McDavid is a lock for 110+ point seasons moving forward and could cap out near 140 points per year.

McDavid has won 3 of the last 5 Art Ross trophies.
And if you take away his teammate who rode his coattails, he beat the rest of the league by 36 points over 56 games. He's not getting traded.
You can't pay him what he's worth in a cap league.

Mac for Marner straight up. Holland would laugh at you and tell you, you had too much to drink or are crazy.
If the Leafs make the call, they better be ready to include Mathews. marner and Travares in the deal, if not then don't bother calling cause Mac is in a much higher level then Mathews, Marner and Tarvares. Neither of these three can dominate a game like Mac can. But it would hurt the leafs more to giv these up so Mac stays with the oilers.
