If I had to guess now:

Hall - Hischier - Bratt
Gusev - Hughes - Palmieri
Coleman - Zajac - Simmonds
Boqvist - Zacha - Wood
Extra: Hayden, Rooney or Anderson (1)

Greene - Subban
Butcher - Severson
Smith - Vantanen
Extras: Mueller & Carrick

Schneider
Blackwood

Bratt and Palmieri could trade spots, but that's largely expected to the the top 6. Boqvist is either playing in NJ or going back to Sweden, but with the Gusev addition it'll be tougher for him to crack the lineup. Also a chance Zacha gets moved to wing to keep him in top 9 versus centering the 4th line.

Vantanen could also be moved to LD as the Devils are a lot more set at RD versus LD.

Figure Schneider and Blackwood largely split the starts and Hynes rides the hot hand.

Little thin on the right side in terms of first line talent, seems like a lot of tweeners, but overall all four lines have scoring potential which is great. Defensemen have a ton of mobility and offense between them. Honestly could be a playoff team if the right system is in place for high offense. Don’t think the D or goaltending can sustain a shut down system.

Overall though the forward group is very deep.

Canucks (not as great as the Devils or Rangers additions but still very solid)

In: J.T Miller, Ferland, Benn, Myers, Hughes

Hard to argue that Palmieri isn't a 1st line talent - over the past 4 seasons he's 8th among RW's in total goals and has paced at 29 goals and 56 points over the course of a full season.

But yeah, overall RW is by far the weakest position for the Devils - Palmieri and Simmonds are the only natural RW's (along with possibly Anderson).

it's fun when the players just use loopholes to join New york and that no other team can fight for it, real fun.
Oh, I'm sorry. HF should have a rule that DQ's you for players wanting to sign, rather than players you swindled a different way. "Must be ****in nice."

And at best handed out the second worst contract of the offseason.

What Van gave up for JT Miller...Myers’ contract...

Florida and Vancouver’s offseasons are not even close to the Devils and Rangers. Literally AINEC.
Floridas biggest problems last season were goaltending, coaching and maybe defense. They acquired a two time Vezina winner, a three time SC champion coach and a very reliable defensive defenseman. They also acquired a 46 point 3rd liner Brett Connolly and a great 4th liner Noel Acciari. Who's that not a great off season?

Still don't get what the big deal is with the Bobrovski contract. Yeah they overpaid him by 1-2 million but they had the cap space so who cares. And yeah it's a bit long but Bobrovski still has a few years of his prime left and when he starts to decline Spencer Knight will most likely be NHL ready.

Hell
Definetly the rangers

Panarin>Subban
Kakko=<Hughes
Plus Trouba is a top pairing guy.
Or...
Panarin > Gusev
Kakao =< Hughes
Trouba >= Subban
Fox >= Smith
Kravstov = Boqvist
Nobody << Simmonds

It's pretty even

These A > B type arguments are not compelling.

Consider:

9 > 5
3 < 4
2 < 3
1 < 2

The left sums to 15 and the right sums to 14, yet it appears the right side is winning.

It's great if you're only concerned about next season and not worried about the impact of the full term of all those contracts. Connolly is coming off a career year after scoring between 23-27 points in each of the prior 3 seasons. I wouldn't go penciling him in for 40+ points again. Stralman is a huge risk on that contract after struggling with injuries and seeing his ice time cut significantly each of the past two seasons. Signing a great 4th liner that's maxed out at 14 points in a season is nothing to get excited about.

JQ will help tremendously as with Bob in the short-term, but you have to be concerned about potentially having a backup goalie making $10MM a few years down the line, regardless of how much the cap goes up.

Florida still had a good offseason, but there are some potential disasters waiting with these contracts and their offseason doesn't come close to matching NJ or NYR.

It’s likely a good short term move, but the length in addition to the size is the concern. If the general consensus on a contract is: “future buyout” the day it’s signed, I’d hardly use it as evidence that Florida had a better offseason than NJ and NYR like the one poster did.

Just for the sake of argument...

9>>>>5
3<4
2<3
1<2

Is literally the only correct statement considering you have definite numerical values. And now the left side wins again.

'Mecca' of Hockey
Hall-Hischier-Bratt
Gusev-Hughes-Palmieri
Boqvist-Zacha-Coleman
Wood-Zajac-Simmonds

Vatanen-Subban
Butcher-Severson
Smith-Greene

Schneider/Blackwood

Rough guess but the players listed will be the players on the roster - just a matter of whos where
Pretty solid lineup! That first line is going to be FAST and productive. Hughes will bring a dynamic element, Palmolive has a sweet shot, and a great 1T especially on the PP. Gusev is the wildcard but I think he'll progress well. Solid talent.

I'm hoping Subban has had a big off-season in terms of conditioning and trimming down on some of that weight, getting a bit more explosive for this fast Devils team, but also the new NHL. I believe he'll have a big year, has something to prove to himself.

Yeah it can be a burden in a few years but he for sure has at least 3-4 good seasons in him. The only active two time Vezina winner and he won them 4 years apart which is a sign of consistency.

The bottom line is Florida got the best goalie available, the best coach available, a guy coming off a career year and one of the best defensive defensemen available (though he had an injury ridden season). New Jersey got *a small 18 year old with 0 NHL games, a 27 year old with 0 NHL games and two guys coming off terrible seasons.

*Yes i do realize that it's impossible for him to have any NHL games played but what i'm saying that he most certainly is not a lock to be a star player in the upcoming seasons.

Yeah, a top five goaltender, top 2-3 coach in the league, depth for the bottom six, and a solid top 4 Dman. Yeah, the Panthers offseason is not even close lmao.

1. Bob's contract is structered so that its easier to move a few seasons down the road, when Knight is ready.
2. Quenneville will help this team on so many levels.
3. Stralman had a injury, not injuries. Before that, he was half of the Lightnings best defensive duo.
4. Connolly adds a 20 goal scorer to our 3rd line, and Acciari is a big piece for the 4th line. He was a beast in the playoffs, but hey, since he scored 14 points, he is just no good.

They filled their needs. Tallon structured the contracts to make sure they have money to re-sign their players next year, and when Barkov and Trocheck are up a few years down the road. Maybe if they would have added an overrated Dman in Subban, or a slow footed Simmonds, things might have been even better for us, but Im happy with our moves. I do like the Gusev move (wanted him), and I loved the lottery win to get Hughes, that was some good management right there.
