What should LA do at the deadline?

It's not just shot volume guys, Kings are legit generating high danger chances by going to the right spots. Shooting talent is a legitimate concern but these aren't the shot-padding 2016 Kings.

We must watch different games.
I still watch the, entering the o-zone at the boards and throwing pucks blindly into the crowd in front of the goal.
Yes there were 2 nice goals lately that remotely looks like hockey but beside that it's the lucky bounces as usual

That seems to be Brown's M.O of late. Bad angle shots. nothing kills a cycle faster

Probably an offseason move, but if I'm Blake I'm asking Buffalo and Carolina about Luukkonen and Kochetkov. Talented goalies who may be traded to shore up holes elsewhere with guys like Levi and Makiniemi looking like the future in net for those teams.

While I don’t disagree with this being a smart target for the Kings, I’m fairly sure that UPL will take a lot to pry out of Buffalo. It’s why the Sabres went dirt cheap this year on goaltending, and why nobody else is signed beyond this season. That and Ullmark rejecting his 4 year contract offer. We figured he was finishing the season in Buffalo and then going back to the AHL after for the playoffs, but of course he got injured like everybody has on the Sabres. An easier goalie to try to get would be Portillo, who like Levi is also a finalist for the Mike Richter Award in college.

Although I found this because I came to see what it would take to get one of Walker or Roy from the Kings for next season, given the RHD depth you guys have, as Buffalo needs partners for Dahlin and Power.

Also, can you go back to the Chevy sweaters full time?

Trade whatever you can and re-build, then fire Blake, Luc and the coaching staff on April 29, 2022.

LA should be interested in Portillo. Something around Walker+

I don’t even think it would take a plus. However I won’t refuse one if offered. I’m not gonna try to evaluate the Kings prospects because I know valuations are all over the place, depending on each person, but if there was some way to get Helenius on the Sabres (I’m assuming he’s in the 7-15 range of the Kings prospects) I’m all ears. I was saying all last year the Sabres need to take him with the 2nd they got from Boston or with the Sabres first 3rd rounder, so I’m open to a slight overpay.

I’m a lone wolf when it comes to “Sabres trades”, but Walker for Portillo is fine by me.

Did someone rewind us back to 2019 and not let me know?

I guess I forgot how some fans react when you lose two games in a row. It was a nice little respite while it lasted.

Re: walker I think the value is more than fair, Im just not sure I would do it because with all the RHD we have, he's one of the few who has already proven he can play LD if needed. So not sure if thats in the plans. If not, then yeah.

Re: Helenius they seem REALLY high on him here, Kings office was REALLY excited about their draft this year, the essentially said they got everyone they targeted or something to that effect.

Back to the thread title--now even more so than ever, stay pat.

Vets seem upset that their Cabo tickets may have to get rescheduled. Let them dig their own hole. No more help for these assholes, not at the expense of the future.

I was high on him before he even got drafted. I was hoping he didn’t raise his stock enough to slip into the 1st round/early 2nd area, but still be good enough to take him with a mid round 2nd. That being said I still would have taken him with the Sabres first 2nd last year, or at worst moved back 10 spaces. It irks me that he went two spots after the Sabres pick they got from the Bruins in the Hall trade :thumbd:

But I’d do Walker (or Roy) for Portillo straight up. I personally value both of them the same, so I’m not attached one over the other. All I know is that Durzi (another player I wanted that the Sabres passed on) and Grans are unavailable.

Portillo with a couple of years under Ranford could be a nice little project for the Kings. He is a big boy with decent athleticism, there are some question marks in his game. But Jack Campbell was basically wearing the Riddler's suit when the Kings traded for him and look what Ranford did.

Despite Devon Levi getting all of the hype, Portillo is also in the running for the Mike Richter Award. So that’s 2/3 goalies being Sabres property.

What would be considered the modern day equivalent of this trade?

At the time of the trade, O'Sullivan was 23, Williams was 27 and had two injury riddled seasons before his arrival.

Something along the lines of Gabe Vilardi and a 2nd for Alex Tuch perhaps?

Something. But Williams had already proved that he was absolute money in the bank in high pressure situations, and had won a Cup. Tuch has yet to prove any of that. It's not just ability, it's the "it" factor.
Or just keep Vilardi and hope he turns into Williams. Williams' first 4 years with PHI are forgettable.

And I'm still pretty high on getting Vyacheslav Peksa from Toronto to add to our goalie corps.

Somebody like Ondrej Palat is probably a closer comparison. Speaking of which, he’d be a very good addition to the “3rd” line.

Giordano is an intriguing name if price isn’t too steep. Great leader off the ice, tough, has tons of experience. Defensively he’s still a valuable player, and he’s capable of chipping in offensively.

He would definitely be a solid add and would make our D deeper and better.

Boeser is a pipe dream, Forsberg better in the off season, so we won’t have to give up anything in return.
