I am watching this one…He’s been the best player on the ice so far. Had a prime scoring chance 2 shifts before that goal.

They are also playing him on the halfwall
Also rotating him to the backdoor for tips/tap ins. Is it (honest question) outrageous to think that both of our traded players would have ~10 more points/season with even a passable PP?

The SportsNet commentators said a few times that the Flames FO was very excited for the added dimension Frost would bring to the PP, with zone entries and puck movement.
I heard that yesterday, but according to deady, we had no one with the "shake and bake" for that. So now we have a conundrum. Can a real life NHL GM be wrong?? Maybe we are in a simulation after all.

Why even be on a discussion board if you are so afraid to have an opinion on anything in the present that you think there is no point in discussing it until you see the results years down the line.

Especially something as obvious as this.
No that's not it. It's the relentless complaints but with no real solutions. What's the point of that? For example if you don't like Briere and want him fired okay, but who you hiring? Add that part and it's a valid discussion. Just complaining is pointless imo.

Solutions and alternatives are presented all the time by damned near everyone.

Calgary obviously has failed as a serious professional hockey organization.

I mean, they kind of have. The last 20 years are unremarkable.

But there's a silver lining for Flyers fans - they missed the playoffs for 7 straight seasons between 1996-2003, and then in 2004, BOOM, Stanley Cup Finals baby!

I've said for the longest time that Frost has 60 point potential, and I still think that might be true. Now, regarding the PP, this Flyers team isn't particularly skilled, but they are better than 30th in the league. The lack of cohesion on the PP certainly dropped points for most players, Frost included. I don't know how many, 5-10 isn't outrageous to me.

God almighty, if we had to reiterate our preferred hires in every thread just so you don't miss the long-established context, you'd start complaining that there was no discussion, just a repeated list of grievances and unworkable "solutions" because the team would never go for it.

That said, to humor you, I've been here since the late Homer era. I wanted Hexy when he got hired, more fool me, wanted Zito when we hired Chuckles, wanted Tulsky when we hired Brière. Also wanted Tulsky over Jones, since they seemed locked in on DB. It's been a while since we hired a coach I like, but I've been largely in favor of new names, wouldn't mind giving some of the top assistants or Euro coaches a look-in, but I also favored Gallant at a couple points when he was free. Mostly want us to hire someone from a well-run org like Tampa, someone along the lines of Jeff Halpern might be interesting. Recently, the name David Carle has come up, and that'd be a great direction to go. I would happily replace Rocky with a rock, but I also don't know who's available to replace a PP coach, nor should I really have to, I'm just some rando on a message board.

Ultimately, the solution is to blow up the Foundation the Titans are holding up, and hire people who understand that the modern NHL is predicated on finding and maximizing talent, not finding and maximizing grit. People who can contemplate analytics without getting halfway through the word and giggling for so long they forget what they were doing. People who want to win the 2027 Stanley Cup, not the 1976 Stanley Cup. We keep going round in circles like this because the team never, ever tries anything that is likely to work, so we never get any reason to hope. Want a more positive discussion in here? That'll require some positive moves from the team, and they don't seem capable of providing that.

I seem to remember people wanting the GM who just traded for Rantanen. They probably would have at least settled for an interview.

There was no interview process for the GM position!
I believe Dan Hilferty said "the first time I met Danny, I knew he was the man for the job."

Ooh, the exact quote is even worse.

“I can tell you from the first day we interacted I viewed him as the next GM of the Philadelphia Flyers.

“Watching how him and Torts [coach John Tortorella] interacted. I felt there was no need for a process because we had our general manager.”

While researching that. I forgot that they hired a consulting firm for the President's job and asked for Billy King's help too. God damn this organization is good shit.

Keith Jones, who is completely unqualified for the position, was hired for one simple reason. Once prospective applicants got the gist of the arrangement of the front office. How it would be a triumvirate with the POHO not having final authority, no serious candidate was willing to take the job. So they were stuck hiring a cheerleader. They would never hire someone like Eric Tulsky because he would completely change the way they do everything and they would never allow that. It's not just the people that need to change, its the ideology that needs to change. Which is imbedded and infecting this franchise and needs to be eradicated.
