What is wrong with Timo Meier?

He was totally invisible tonight
He had two assists, 3 shots on goal. Not sure what else you'd want?
It's better than nothing, sure, but neither pass was particularly special. The second assist in OT had nothing to do with the goal at all.

You'd expect him to drive play for that salary.
So first you say he was invisible...then you backpedal because you were exposed for not even paying attention (ie someone pointing out he had 2 assists meaning he wasn't "invisible").

Gotta love these boards. :rolly:

You can have two assists and still be invisible. Especially when the second assist in OT had nothing to do with the goal at all.

Yeah but technically, you can't really be invisible if you made your way onto the scorer's sheet.

That was my whole point.

Have a wonderful day.
I once got pulled over by a cop for driving in the carpool lane. Cop looked into my window and saw that I did indeed have a passenger (my little daughter was in the front seat) but she was invisible to him. He sent us on our way eventually.

I might have just compared Timo Meier to a passenger and to my daughter lol

He's fine. Same situation with Horvat but I think both will adapt to their respective teams. I think Meier should be on the 2nd line with Toffoli and Palat, and Meier should use his body more to be a forechecker. Devils really could become a brutal team IF he lives up to that Sharks potential.

But he's only broken 70 points once and he's 27 years old and signed for 8 years at 8.8. It would be another thing entirely if he was putting up 70+ points consistently. Max Domi put up over 70 in a season playing with Drouin and Shaw as his linemates. Someone has to score on bad teams.

People can say its only been 3 games, but in 35 regular season and playoff games with the Devils he has 18 points total. That should be concerning that maybe he's a bad fit.

Yeah man, great call with the Max Domi comp.

He has stunk this year, but it doesn’t mean much yet. This thread will be funny to revisit when he scores 10 goals in 10 games or some shit.

Neat. So you think a 3 year average where he played 85% of it in SJ is a real takedown on questioning is he is a bad fit in NJ? He absolutely could turn things around, but people saying its only been 3 games are ignoring that he has 18 points in 35 games with the Devils. That should be concerning for a guy with that contract.

Yeah, I think it’s extremely stupid to compare him to Max Domi, especially when you’re cherry picking stats. He had 9 goals in 21 games at the end of last season for the Devils. He then created more scoring chances than almost any player in the postseason vs the Rangers. You’d have seen that if you watched and weren’t just looking at box scores. Igor just stood on his head.

He suffered a major blow to the head at the end of that series and then the whole team was off vs Carolina. Your concern troll is noted though.

Even if ‘invisible’ was being used literally, that player would be difficult to play against and would likely have a lot of assists.
True but that's a moot point 'cause Timo is far from invisible (both literally and non-literally), especially the last game.

Even Lindy pointed out that's the Timo the team needs.

When your concussed superstar luck his way into 2 apples you pamper his ass and order caviar.

Coaching 101 or Lindy for Jack Adams.

So you didn’t watch the games just highlights, got it. Talking about contacts when your team handed out the Trouba, Panarin and the Trocheck contacts lmao. Enjoy your one big hit and series loss.
Yup! The Rangers have signed some back contracts. You won’t see me denying that like you devil’s fans are doing with Meier. The guy’s a f*cking dud.

Okay bud, it's 4 games. Come back a a season or 2 and see if Devil fans are still good with the contract, assuming you're right and he doesn't figure it out.

Did you guys know after 4 games that Laf and Kakko were busts or did you guys deny it for a while?

Difference is you guys are paying your bad contracts over 25 million a season and the Devils are paying their "bad contract" 8.8 per season.

Same thing that’s always been wrong with him, he’s a slow starter. Just takes some guys a month to get their game going. If he’s still stuck in this slump in a month, it’ll be concerning.

Last night was a good sign he might be heating up.
