Shouldn't that make him produce so much more like karlsson did? That was the narrative for Karlsson's points but I don't see anyone on the sharks doing nothing atm.

Lol they’ve let in 10 goals twice in a row and can barely score, meanwhile Karlsson had over 100 points on that team as a defenseman logging over 25 minutes a game and had as many goals for as against during 5vs5 play, and some people still believe he was a liability

Main thing is McDavey kinda sucks. He generates so much of his scoring off the rushl

That's not going to always translate to other players because he's a selfish asshole.

Draisaitl is a vastly superior player and a much better passer. McDavid is a selfish pucckhog who isn't even that good, if you take away his otherworldly speed.
His speed is the problem of the team. his linemates had to catch him resulted in big gap between the forward and d men. The whole team made so much efforts to pop up his stats and didn't have energy in play off.

I think he was kind of always a little overrated. What you're seeing now is a regression to the mean. This is Quinn Hughes league now.
I don't think you have ever taken statistics course before have you?

McDavids current play is the mean? ...no that's not how it works. McDavids last 8 years were a pretty reasonable sample size to get an idea of what he is.

WTF?

The system is too heavily reliant on McDavid, it’s amazing that people would like you to believe that the oilers have beer league players surrounding him.

The stats would suffer, but the oilers could very well adopt a style that would make themselves successful whether McDavid was in the lineup or not.

Yes. Really.

Regression to mean would refer to him regress back to "normal" after a series of extreme results.

McDavid has been playing at or above 1.5ppg for five years now . That is a very statistically relevant amount of games

At this point regression to the mean would be him playing at 1.5ppg.

providing evidence of what those of us who were watching were saying - that he was dragging an AHL team into being a shitty NHL team by himself.

People saying he’s playing hurt, why in the world would the Oilers play him hurt ? If he gets a season ending injury, their season is a wrap
Their season is a wrap no matter what he does. And oh yeah, he is NOT, never HAS BEEN and never WILL BE on the same level as Gretzky

He’s hurt

Look at his face off stats since game 2

He can’t shoot or stick handle or pivot very well

Other than individual awards has McDavid ever led his team to a championship at any level?

Genuinely curious.
Stacked teams win cups not players

The best player will be a big reason but at the end of the day they cant make up for team flaws especially in hockey

Mcdavid is one of the best playoff performers ever through 50 games.

The oilers management should be ashamed of how they have not been able to get a 1D and 1G for Mcdavid despite him and draisaitl being 5-6M underpaid

Don’t disagree at all but winning also requires a mentality and a leader who is able to have that mentality.

Has he ever led his team to a championship?
