Their issues have always been the same(defence, goaltending). They basically need him to rack up points at a ridiculous pace for success.

Not trying say he’s old cause he’s only going on 27 which is still prime years but his style doesn’t age well. It’s a wreckless speedy style that can lead to injuries.

McDavid, Draisaitl, and Nugent-Hopkins are all strong core pieces. Nuge is even on a true sweetheart deal for what he brings.

But how on earth have Oilers not managed to fix their D and G in 9 years? I guess Chiarelli tried, by trading Hall for Larsson, but surely better moves have been available.
