It's early still. Even the great ones have ups and downs. I suspect he'll win the Art Ross again

He needs more ice time, 25 mins against Dallas clearly wasn't enough.. give him 30-35 mins.

Meh, his production usually cool off around January, but this year just happened to be at the start of the season (playing throughout injury doesn't help).

Imagine, 9 points in 7 games is considered a drought for McDavid, he'll be just fine. He might not win the Hart this year, but the Art Ross is likely a lock if he plays atleast 70 games.

He could easily go on a tear and score 60 points in the next 30 games or so.

Hiring the wrong people like bob Nicholson and Ken Holland and the previous incompetence ie. chiarelli
Chiarelli has been gone for years, move on already. Holland hiring nit as bad as people think. Would rather have him than Dubas. Hes had one bad signing with over paying Nurse by a couple million, Campbell too. Dubas, Jesus you could write a book on the stupid shit Dubas did. Thank God hes gone

I despise dubas even more, but Holland gave kassian a 3 yr 12 million dollar contract…..the campbell contract was horrible since campbell never showed he could be a consistent starter and remain healthy and yet Holland paid him like he was.

The Oilers brought McDavid back while he was still injured because their season was circling the drain very quickly.

I am not sure that was smart though. They play in a very bad division so they could afford to get off to a brutal start.
They play in a very bad division? Are you sure?

Vegas unbeaten and 1st place in west
Canucks 7 -2-1 and are 4th in the West
LA 6-2-2 and in playoff position
Ducks are surging with 5 wins in a row
Seattle in that bubble position

Those are 5 teams above the lowly Oilers who can only beat the flames in the heritage classic lol.
The Oilers have also lost to Dallas and badly beaten by Canucks twice when they had a healthy McDavid too. They haven't even faced Vegas yet. I would be so confident to say this is a bad division when some pundits are actually saying this is a very tough division. Aside from SJ being ECHL, the rest of the teams in this division are talented even the Flames

He's purposely checked out this year so he can get management fired. It's pretty genius actually, generational IQ right there

Team's playing awful and he's still hurt most likely.

This narrative is so old and outdated. They have the defending champions, LA is underrated and quite good, Vancouver has blown out of the gate super fast this year. They have a couple of bottom tier teams in the division, but so does every other division.

McDavid Matthews Marner
Bertuzzi Tavares Nylander

CAN YOU IMAGINE!!!
I hope so, because imagining it is all that you are going to be able to do.

He’s not 100% but the Oilers depth will pick up the slack.
Their depth is their weakness. They have lost lots of games with McDavid absent or injured so where is this so called depth?
Their bottom 6 is trash imo..Ryan, Holloway, McLeod lol then they add old man Gagner to try and give depth to their bottom 6 and old man Gagner already outscored their bottom 6 in one game.

Look at Canucks bottom 6: they have Garland, Beauvillier, Suter, Hoglander, Lafferty, Blueger and Joshua. 5 of those players have some offensive talent and there are 2 or 3 players that could comfortably play in top 6 if injury occurs. Can't say the same for the Oilers bottom 6.

Nothing. He’s not 100% and missed some time. I’m sure he’ll rip off 50 points in 25 games or something soon enough.

Can you imagine no cap? Because it's hard to imagine that top 6 in this cap world lol

That's a 60 million dollar top 6. Even if Oilers gave Leafs McDavid for free the Leafs still wouldn't be able to pull off that top 6 unless they fill the rest of their roster with league min. Players from Marlies and magically remove any dead weights.

I actually still think he’s gonna win the art Ross even with this start.

It will be close
But I feel he’ll go on some heater of PP points

I could see him seriously putting up 7 points against San Jose in just a game

Do you have any idea just how f***ing good you gotta be to have 9 pts in 7 games and yet it’s considered a “slow start”….

According to Oilers fans. You got:

100pt man in RNH
80pt Hyman
High end scorer Kane

Oilers are missing Klim Kostin big time. He was their best bottom 6 guy last year who could play on the top 2 lines if needed.
