He senses Hughes, Bedard & Kravtsov breathing down his neck. He’s in shambles, his reign is coming to an end and he knows it. He’s already started lashing out in interviews, he’s having a meltdown as his career dwindles away in front of our very eyes.
His German associate is clearly following the path, unable to hit wide open net and then taking it on simple reporters

Possible mental fatigue.

I'm surprised it hasn't happened earlier and they've willed through it for years. I don't think it's sustainable for any player including the great ones to keep motoring through when things are falling apart around them.

You will eventually get weighed down by it.

This is correct.

Watch how fast an employee that carries most of the workload and does everything one project after another gets burnt out when most everyone around him sit around with their thumb up their ass. The Oilers just expecting 150pt seasons and historic powerplays year after year is ridiculous. Hockey is a team game, from the President of Hockey Ops right on down to the guy who sharpens skates and carries gear.

Eventually you just tune out. And hearing hey Connor I know you're banged up and all but we need ya out there to get some more butts in the seats for the Heritage classic would really just piss me off if I were him. That's not an organization that's serious about winning.

He's having an existential crisis lol

Actually though it's clearly the injury. He'll still win the Art Ross

McDavid 1g at ES. Drai 1g at ES. If they only score at PP its a problem for sure...

The fact Oilers still played a clearly still somewhat injured McDavid more than any other skater ( only Heiskanen played more from both teams ) tells me how much in panic mode the Oilers are

Main thing is McDavey kinda sucks. He generates so much of his scoring off the rushl

That's not going to always translate to other players because he's a selfish asshole.

Draisaitl is a vastly superior player and a much better passer. McDavid is a selfish pucckhog who isn't even that good, if you take away his otherworldly speed.

The Oilers are 31st in the league for high danger shooting percentage. Opposing goalies have been good and Oilers wingers have been unable to convert, as usual. McDavid covered for it last year by scoring 60+ himself but he hasn't appeared to have that in him since a late season crosscheck against Vegas last year.
