The math at the time, and the eyeball test, showed a possibility of it happening.

Now that McDavid is going great guns, not a chance anymore.

The NHL is a better place when McDavid (and Draisitl) are getting results.
It only showed by the eye ball test if you refused to acknowledge he was playing injured and would eventually heal.

That seems like a common theme. They would rather just hate on McDavid because people hate players being better than their own for some reason

1. Went from a 27 goal guy to a 20pt guy away from McDavid
3 cups away from McDavid, that’s success. Was crucial in the Blues run.
2. 65 games is like 80% if a season and the only time he looked like an NHL player was beside McDavid
Fair.
3. Thought it was 93. Even at 83 points, his production went up by like 40% playing with McDavid
He was pacing at nearly that before McDavid. It went up more like 20%. Which does show he elevates players.
4. Kane in 2022, his only non injured season with Edmonton, had 35g/56pts in 58 games including playoffs, by far the best production of his career
Nah, his 30g/57pts in 74 games for the Jets was just as good. He was more of a physical presence.
5. RNH hasn’t come where CLOSE to a hose totals before until he had consistent time with McDrai. Previous career high of 69pts, which makes his 104 a 35! Point increase in production.
You mean before he got consistent top line winger minutes, instead of having to carry a line? We all knew he would be good on the wing, it’s not a revelation. However McDavid definitely elevated his totals, just not to the degree you’re making it out to be.
5. So is Draisaitl actually the second best offensive forward in the NHL, by quite a large margin? Or does playing with McDavid greatly help him produce.
He’s in the second tier, with players like Matthews, but yes.
I’m absolutely amazed that in the year 2023 there actually people who don’t think McDavid helps others around him LOL.
Nobody said that, just you’re making him out to be Lemieux elevating players and it’s not that at all.

Of course he was hurt. He wasn't tucking in his sweater because of the extra padding to protect his ribs.

When he was hurt, and the math played it out, he was not scoring like he used to because he was physically unable to do what he usually does.

Now he is arguably a lot healthier and playing better and wracking up points.

Not sure why you see it as a conspiracy of stupidity when it's so simple; cause and effect.

What do you know. He can pivot now fully and has his speed back. Don;t know what injury/injuries he had, but he looked like a fringe 2nd liner for quite a while until that CAR game

Could not do much edge work and his hands were gone

I’m not convinced McDavid was playing injured, he might’ve just been in a bad funk along with 80% of his teammates. He was off his game even before the hip injury.

But we all knew he would be back to his dominant self eventually. The time has come and I would be surprised if he doesn’t finish the year as the points leader.

He was definitely injured and not 100%.
