it can't all be an injury. speed doesn't matter much on the powerplay and he looked like ass there yesterday and just kept giving the puck away.

You can't really get proper force on your shot, even passes if you can't move your hips properly, that's really actually where a lot of the force there is generated.

These speed guys lose just a quarter of a step and suddenly they become very average, and of course speed is the first thing to go.

So you think a player that just put up 150 points last year lost a step over the Summer at 26 and now is under a ppg player?

He's obviously injured and he honestly looks like a shell of himself atm. If Edmonton wasn't in such a desperate position he should be sitting

Carrying drai on his back is clearly catching up to him. I'm sure he wouldn't mind drai "geNErAtionAl derp second best player in the world ahh derp" ( Matthews AINEC) carry him but he can't...so.... yeah.. he's hurt and tired and no one can help him...

Or maybe the weight of having pushed hard for Campbell, then giving him a backbreaker contract is bringing McDavid down. Lots of possibilities.

Did Draisaitl run over your dog or something? That's the only thing I can speculate in that incoherent mess of a post.

It’s simply not much of a story, but I’ll admit that the narrative from the detractors is getting pretty old. This make believe tale that he’s at full strength and playing like this is some of the most dishonest stuff I’ve seen from people who supposedly love following sports.

McDavid is playing hurt; it’s obvious, but the most vocal trolls who don’t watch a single shift of his games, have ammo because his season stats say 13 points in 14 games.

For the stat hounds, he has 5 pointless games in the 9 games since he has returned. He had just 7 in all 82 games last season and had a point in 59 out of his final 62 games, which was followed up with a point in all 5 games to start the season before he was injured. Yeah, he’s really fallen off a cliff for no reason; keep telling yourselves that while you’re marching in the hate parade, head-scratchingly led by the Captain.

It’s pretty clear he’s been rushed back; he probably feels it was a mutual decision at worst, because he’s still pretty young, is an elite athlete, and thinks his management cares for anything beyond ‘can he play the next game to cover up our poor decision-making?’

He was originally projected to miss at least 3-6 games. They brought him back after 2 due to desperation. Just another symptom of both short and long-term bad decision making by the Oilers, made necessary by the past, at the expense of the present and futures.

Eventually, McDavid will get healthy and rip the league to shreds again, and most of you will slink back into the shadows and safely vote the negative option in any McDavid poll, anonymously of course.

It's pretty much what what happened to the heartbreak kid Shawn Michaels in the 90s.

McDavid has lost his smile. Maybe he can get closer to God as it worked for hbk.

We shall see. Not even top 20 in scoring at 26-27 is pretty putrid though

He has a hip injury. Simple as. Oilers rushed him back for the heritage classic.

He should sit out for a few weeks and he’ll be back to form. But the team/him won’t do that
