“You’re supposed to hate opposing players.”Buddy, this is hockey fandom.
You‘re supposed to hate opposing players.
I don’t hate Crosby, I don’t hate Auston, I don’t hate Oveckin! But as a Flames fan, you’re damn skippy I hate McDavid. I hope he never scores another goal!
The time for praise and love will be after he retires. Which I will gladly do. Just like Gretzky.
“You’re supposed to hate opposing players.”
Proceeds to list opposing players they don’t hate.
They just wouldn't be able to have any defense or goaltending. Probably the 4 highest paid forwards in the league next year.McDavid Matthews Marner
Bertuzzi Tavares Nylander
CAN YOU IMAGINE!!!
I haven't watched much of the Oilers this year, but what I have watched, he doesn't appear to have lost speed at this point. Also, his injury shouldn't have much impact on speed....perhaps speed and handling the puck at the same time. Either way, he's clearly more than just speed and puckhandling, you're underselling him quite a bit hear. I think he's just going through a lull like all players do.He has lost his superhuman speed and without that he is not nearly the same player anymore. He is still a good player, but not an oustanding one. As many have pointed out, his game is almost solely built on his speed. Take away his speed and he is still a skilled player, but he doesn`t ahve elite skills outside of his speed and his puck handling at high speed.
Now the question is obviously, if his speed is only temporalily gone due to injury or if it is gone for good. We will have to wait and see.
However, there are few examples of these type of ultra fast twich guys that were able to fully recover once they have lost it. Let`s wait and see.
They won't even be able to keep Nylander let alone add McDavid without losing a lot of salary from other players departing (like Tavares or Marner)They just wouldn't be able to have any defense or goaltending. Probably the 4 highest paid forwards in the league next year.
Brave to assume that anyone on HF is bright.I’m sure you’re bright enough to understand what a rivalry is.
But I’m sure it feels better to get your “gotcha” shot in.
There have been plenty of burners who can handle the the puck. Not many have crafted Hall if Fame careers by their 26th birthday. There might be some other factors at play.He has lost his superhuman speed and without that he is not nearly the same player anymore. He is still a good player, but not an oustanding one. McDavid has ridiculous hockey IQ. This idea that he’s simply speed and that’s what has made him so dominant is quite silly. Let’s wait until he’s actually recovered before writing him off so fast.He has lost his superhuman speed and without that he is not nearly the same player anymore. But the point is that one would hope that hockey fans can appreciate great players, as you illustrated while admonishing another poster for suggesting the possibility.

Why isn't he resting and recovering then?Dude's playing injured, not hard to comprehend? Probably something that affects all his dynamic movement (not just speed).
Why isn't he resting and recovering then?
Because hockey players some times play through injury and with pain?
Like did you think you were watching Ice Capades or Figure Skating?
But why does he play through injury in November?Because hockey players some times play through injury and with pain?

But why does he play through injury in November?
He wants to win the Art Ross, Lindsey and Hart trophies. Can't stay out too long if you want to win those trophies! Plus a guy like McDavid can probably evolve his game when playing injured too. And he's got the all time points list to worry about as well. Those 2000 career points won't get scored from the pressbox...But why does he play through injury in November?
Because the Oilers’ season would be completely f***ed (if it’s not already) if McDavid missed 2 or 3 weeksBut why does he play through injury in November?
One of the few last games I watched seemed weird. Either a lack of effort, he's injured or he's just downright depressed.
Not driving to the net. Not going after loose picks. He's displaying half the creativity we're use to.
