This is Matthews story on Instagram right now.

This is the part of hockey Dubas doesn't understand.

He's been my favorite Leaf for the last few games.

Even if he wasn't hitting and fighting, he's been effective. That 4th line has had great shifts with sustained pressure, and Reaves has looked somehow fast. He's not the same guy from the start of the year. He's making a difference.

Sustained o-zone pressure form the 4th line makes a huge difference in a game.

He looks pretty good for his role recently, just needs to keep this up the rest of the season and into the postseason.

He's a liability if he starts to coast, the coaches see that, his minutes and games get cut dramatically, or hes scratched. Up to him now and him alone to make sure that doesn't happen again

That’s exactly what I’m talking about. Thanks for posting it - - I’d give your post a like but unfortunately, and inexplicably, my emoji privileges have been taken away.
lol I had my emoji privileges taken away a while back because I was giving it to someone....can't remember who. Anyway. I got them back after a couple of months. I'm an asshole for the record.

I don't know what team doctors injected into Reavo's knees cause he looks much better out there and can actually catch opposing players for big hits. This version is the version we were all hoping we'd get when we signed him.

Having this guy makes McCabe, Boosh, Benoit all that much more effective cause they'll be able to throw the body around and have peace of mind that a mutant has their back if things get chippy.

My brother was on the same flight as him going to Cancun during the All Star break.

No way of knowing but it must have been either the sunshine, tequila, or some back-alley healthcare that fixed him up.

To be fair, any fourth liner that coasts is a liability. He actually looks fast out there

A lot of posters decided to write off a lot of players based on the first handful of regular season games, foretelling doom for the team, deciding players’ NHL careers were over, calling for trades, waivers, you name it..

Let’s be honest - - a lot of people decided Reaves was a terrible signing the moment it was announced, long before the season ever started.

Three years at $1.35M per is absolutely NOTHING in terms of the salary cap. It’s $600k above the minimum. Who in their right mind would think that’s going to cripple the Leafs cap situation?

As I explained the , and numerous times since, the Leafs had been lacking TWO (2) major elements - - confidence and toughness. And Reaves provides both.

Many people can’t handle the level of swag that Reaves brings, and can’t accept the fact that fighting is still a huge part of hockey.

As I said when it was announced, this was a brilliant signing by Treliving.

Sorry about your luck, Dubas Fan Boi.

Keefe alluded to him being quicker today as well, it is odd how much better he's getting around the ice.

He's actually decent on the cycle and can get scoring chances.

Our own team and other teams play different when he's I'm the lineup

It shouldn’t be surprising that Reaves is playing better in February/March than he was in October/November.

At 37yrs old it’s going to take his longer to get into game shape than a guy in his early 20’s who’s ready to go full out anytime.

Reaves has also been around long enough to realize how meaningless the regular season - - specifically the early part of the regular season - - is.

The only thing that matters in Toronto is the playoffs.

Spreadsheet heroes in shambles trying to understand the impact Reaves can have.

Ironically, Reaves, and the fourth line entirely for that matter, have looked far better on the spreadsheet since he came back from injury. 64% xgf% since returning on January 27. First on the team.

The two things go hand in hand. If he’s getting caved in and scored on every shift, then no one gives a shit about his antics. You could see it hit his confidence, he was barely doing anything out there early in the season. If he and the fourth line go out there and play good hockey, then everything else he brings is magnified 10x and he becomes a major pain in the ass for the other team.
