Had a friend who had a fast car like this and he took me for a spin. Unless you’re driving on a highway at 3am or live in Wyoming it’s really hard to find roads where you can open these babies up. My memory of that drive was hard shifting every five seconds.Since you're paying, I'll suggest the Challenger Redeye. 800hp. Life changing and incredibly dangerous -- not sure how this car is legal.

Ahhh, Olds 440s with primer-painted body panels and non-matching wheels. The 80s LI equivalent of those Mad Max cars. Always gave them plenty of room on the roads.South Shore Causway from Jones beach out to Lido . Any speed was possible .
But that was the 80s. I miss the 80s. Best decade ever . Starts with 4 Cups and ends with the premier of The Simpsons in 1989. Lots inbetween too. Am I doing it again . Sorry.

Took my road test in an olds 98. Try parallel parking one of those when you're sixteen.
try it when your 12 and your parents are out with friends and left the keys. Green Plymouth Duster
My first car was a 1970 Plymouth Duster. You could fit two people in the front seat, four in the back seat, and probably about seven in the trunk if necessary.Green Plymouth Duster

After my wife lent my 01 Maxima MT to the kid across the street who had just totalled his 7 series BMW, I had an 04.5 350 Z for over 5 years, until a fool in a Dodge 300 Limo made a left turn into my drivers side. Enthusiast, 6 speed, no oil issue. Bought it at 86K, it was totalled at 130,000+. Original clutch, original tranny, LeMans Sunset color. 17-18 mpg around town, 25+ on the highway(under 75). Everybody and their brother want to play stop light zoom, a surprising number of big old American sedans among them. I learned to ignore them after a few months. The funniest one was a BRZ when they first came out. the lights were somewhat close together, and I made him think he was doing well until I hit second gear. Instead of stopping next to me, he ran the next light(Very red) to get away. Bought it for 13K, I got 6,600 from the insurance company($500 deductible) for the remnants. Solid body, I was unharmed when hit almost square on the drivers door. Now that we don't have hockey to talk about for a couple of days, just wondering if anyone has a "mid-life crisis car" (or younger version!). I've always thought about getting a 2nd fun used car when I retire, and now that it's 5-7 years away I'm thinking about it a little more. I really like my car now and would happily keep it for a long time and get a 2nd (used) car rather than replace it. Anyway, I may never do it but figured it might be a fun OT conversation....
I've thought about a few options. I always lusted after 911s when I was younger, and the Cayman actually reminds me more of those old 911s than the current 911 does. But a lot of the people who drive Porsches have kind of ruined them for me - they've gone from being a driver's car to a status symbol. Expensive to maintain too. A Corvette would be another option, mostly because I test drove a Chevy SS which has a Corvette engine and loved the sound, but again there's kind of a demographic thing with that and it seems like a stereotypical thing to do. I also see a lot of 4-5+ owner used Corvettes out there, so I guess there's a reason people get them and then sell them.
Anyway, I keep coming back to the same car: a Honda S2000. I always loved those things, even though I'm not typically a fan of convertibles. Totally a driver's car that has an all-time great manual transmission, great handling, reliable, redlines around 9000 rpm, etc.. So that would be my pick. Anyone else?
The fact that it's a convertible is the biggest negative - I've never been a fan and hardtops generally handle better because the chassis is more rigid. I'm sure I'll change my mind 10 times. I'm a fan of Japanese cars generally though. I've seen rumors that the next gen Civic Type R will incorporate electric motors on the rear wheels to be a hybrid AWD like the NSX. If that happens and the price isn't crazy, I'd probably be all in.I would be afraid of a convertible sports car
Do they make a hard top for the S2000? I have heard that it is not easy to stay in the sweet spot of the power band, but folks rave about the handling. The Z would corner at .9 something, and I am also a Jap car guy. The sporty car that amazes me is the Audi TT, but it is tiny. I would not like to pay for repairs on a German car. I drove the z 50,000 miles, nothing but brakes, tires, and a rear brake caliper. The Civics are hot, and although ugly, they look a lot better than the WRX's.The fact that it's a convertible is the biggest negative - I've never been a fan and hardtops generally handle better because the chassis is more rigid. I made a poor financial decision and bought a Tesla!
2017 Kia Carens. Next year will be getting the Hyundai Palisade. Cabin room is amazing! Flying out the doors here in Korea.
Let me ask you, when they list 86 miles per gallon online, does that mean it only gets 86 miles per charge before you have to charge it again?Uh oh. I drive a Leaf. Rest assured the number 91 doesn't appear on my license plates.
2015 Nissan Leaf with an 86 mile range.
