What can we do to get Keefe fired.

What do you think makes him a great coach?

What makes him a bad coach? He has the best record of any active tenures for coaches. He has some flaws, but has managed to have the team get some pretty consistent results and won us a playoff series.

Only thing anyone can say is playoff series wins which is a core issue not a Keefe one.

You wonder why Leafs fans aren't happy with Keefe?

He has a .433 winning percentage in the playoffs, having led this team to one series win in 5 years.

Watching this team give up a 3-1 series lead to the Habs, a 3-2 lead to the Bolts, get shut out twice by a Columbus team that should have beaten then, not looking particularly good last year finally win a round only to get completely dominated vs. the Panthers.

That's why. Add to that a fan base that's been waiting over 50 years for a Cup and yes, there's a little impatience in the air too.

I do agree though if Treliving fires Keefe it's not a given the replacement will have any better luck with this team as its constructed - he has to get the exact right coach, fix the blue line and get a starting goalie first if Woll doesn't work out - but after all this failure there has to be accountability. Shanny's still here, Dubas would be if he hadn't left for a promotion in Pittsburgh and Keefe's still behind the bench.

Ah yes, I am sure Keefe told Galchenyuk to do a no look blue line pass, Marner to put the puck over the glass and cry, etc, Playoff failures are on the core's performance in important games.

Not specifically but the drop pass and maintaining possession in a fashion that extends play in and in the direction of our zone often leading to turnovers inside our zone is Keefe.

I have seen a few glass and outs lately but they are very very rare and if you watch other teams they often flick pucks to center or just ice it when they’re in trouble. We never will. We are very bad at relieving pressure and the only way Keefe seems to want it done is by passing it or skating it out of the zone which is very hard when you’re tired.

gm 5-6 vs mtl was goaltending gave up at least 2 weak goal on both game, whatever how good youre playing its extremely hard to overcome of 2 weak goal in a playoff game

vs columbus just go watch what leafs d was looking like when muzzin get hurt

rielly-barrie
dermott-holl
marincin-ceci

sorry not a lot of coach would have succes with that D...

vs florida completly dominated... again im not agree, tampa did it but not florida... and again goaltending gave up at least 2 weak goal on both game 1-2 with leafs traling 2 0

whatever who you will put behing the bench, if youre goalie dont get the job done im telling you, youre gonna lost over 95% of the time

So you can't think of anything that makes him great coach either. Fair enough

Andersens whole history has been of a playoff choker who gives up bad goals in big games for every team he's ever played for.

Campbell has one of the worst high danger save% in the playoffs during his time with the Leafs behind one of the best defensive playoff teams over his time. As un clutch as a goalie gets.

The fact big guns failed to convert many of their chances against the Price, Vasys and Bob's of the league doesn't take away from the fact those goalies were giving the Leafs nothing while ours were giving up short side softies or floaters through the five whole in deciding games as well.

I don't think any of the goalies we have had would have done a thing on any other team either. If Campbell was on Tampa instead of Vasy, do they make 3 finals in a row? Or do they not even win a round? (And then it's a coaching issue right?) Tampa won all its elimination games with 2-1 and 1-0 games left and right. Was it Vasy or great coaching?
I dont totally disagree with you but teams have won with mediocre goaltending before. No teams have won with nobody scoring. I think the only real difference between the leafs in the regular season and playoffs is that their soft, overpaid core mostly disappears when the playoffs come around. They never have great D or goaltending but it’s enough to be a top team when they’re scoring. I don’t think they’re a cup contender as is but they should be able to win a playoff series more than once.

The other reason I pick on the core 4 is their contracts. They could have a better blueline or a better goaltending situation if they had money to spend. That’s why I criticize the playoff performances of their highly paid core - they need to be better to make up for the shortcomings elsewhere because of the cap.

I hope they retain Nylander over Marner tbh. Sounds like Marner is gonna want 13-14m and they just can’t afford that. They have enough soft, non physical players already and enough cap money spent up front.

Giving marner 13 million per is insanity

We're already considered a pseudo competitive hockey team. This team is just there to sell some big names and some fancy highlight goal scoring. Everyone that's good whom we end up dumping goes on to win somewhere else. It's almost like some Karmatic reward for enduring this organization. The fans are great, owners are idiots.

And yes, it's pure insanity, but again, flashy name built on nifty passes sells here.

He's probably gone in the off-season when B.T. remakes this entire team.

Hopefully, he does a better job picking a coach and remaking a team than he did in Calgary...

It's crazy how we have complaints about depth, D, goaltending, no cap space, etc... and then it is somehow the coach's fault too, how do we not finish last every year? How have we even managed to win a single round?

This fan base is the most delusional for sure.

Lucky break, simply because Vasy was bad.

I am assuming this goes both ways...

"Lucky break, simply because Bobrovsky/Price/Merzlikins/Korpisalo stood on his head"

I am assuming this is how you feel since there is no way you'd blame the Leafs for a goalie with a .950sv% and then also say it is the goalie's fault the Leafs scored so much.

His post game comments: I am just going to chalk it up to a group that hasn’t played and had a few days off.

Why should the players work their ass off when they know the coach will let them off the hook?

He has assistant coach vibes - the ones who are buddy buddy with the players, which is fine, but not when you’re the head coach.

Keefe is like the parent who doesn't want to punish his children because he still wants to be the "cool" dad when they introduce him to their friends.

So he won us a playoff series but when they lose it is on the core, not Keefe? Do you not even grasp when you're contradicting yourself?

This group of lazy, entitled babies needs a coach that goes the tough love route. Keefe’s style of coaching will never get this team anywhere and it’s obvious at this point.

So sick of watching these guys play with no heart or effort because they know there will be zero consequences. Just a “ho-hum, bounces didn’t go our way tonight” bs speech in the post-game and on to their next embarrassment.

And Keefe isn’t the problem per se. But they need a guy like Torts behind the bench and he should have been removed like the rest of the trash Dubas left behind.

I don’t even want to give him the salary we’re paying him now. Screw a raise.

Someone should ask him why it seems like the other team didn't malfunction.

I imagine how those Devon Toews comments about teammates who think they're playing hard but have no clue would go over in the Leaf room.

Keefe's time could very well be up here, but for the most part the issues were seeing aren't coaching related. You have individual players underperforming in key situations with strong opportunities created for them. It's a lot of bad individual execution and limited abilities by the personnel, part of that's injuries, part of it is just surprisingly poor performances
