What can we do to get Keefe fired.

Is that because you can't get a good enough supporting cast because they are chewing up half the cap space or you are turning over the supporting cast yearly because they are chewing up half the cap?

If you want and get all the money, be prepared to deliver. They have not for what they have been paid. There is no defending the so called Big 4 for their playoff performance. They should look to Rielly for guidance.

You don't need Cap Space to draft good players.

They've been inept.

I think a fair argument exists for both viewpoints (the big money at the top affecting how much can be allocated to the supporting cast; the money for the supporting cast not being utilized to its full potential).

I found this interesting.

List all Leafs players who have more 15 or more points total in the playoffs since 2016-2017 season.

View attachment 791998

10 points or more points

View attachment 791999

22 players at 5 or more

The top 4/5 players, have had little support.
I see part of the problem in the room. Not a real team, no mutual sacrifice. It is not about points, it is about shift by shift, system, I got your back etc.
New players may feel isolated, left out, inferior due to the room. Just speculation but when Schenn left and we paid 4.1 to Klingberg that showed he did not want to play here. WHY?
Who would you rather have Schenn, or Gio, or Brodie or Klingberg.

Honestly, I feel like there are a good number of posters on here and fans in general that are totally apathetic to whatever this team does; afraid to show they aren’t a “true” fan and willing to accept the past 7-8 years of underachievement this team has subjected us to.

Who honestly gives af if we beat Columbus tonight. Deep down we all know what this team is; first round fodder for Florida or Boston. People will say you’re “negative” and a hater but screw that. I’m serious about wanting to see this team win something but the core players clearly are not. Keefe is an extension of their bs, glossing over their ass efforts with bounces didn’t go our way etc etc.

He isn’t the problem but he has to go. Take Shanatrash with him while he’s at it

We've had value contracts with guys like Bunting, Knies, Hyman, Rielly, ELCs of Matthews/Marner/Nylander, Kadri, ROR, Mikheyev, Spezza, etc...

We've had countless value contracts and almost all of these guys have gotten paid much more after their time with the Leafs...

If we overpay the top half slightly, guys like this makeup for it.

All of this good depth underperformed for the most part, some of the biggest underperformers have had good playoffs since (Hyman and Kadri were likely the worst).

I'm curious what you mean by acceptance in this case.

For me, I'm disappointed in the results and would have made changes to the core. Not all of them, but a shake up was necessary and I may have done it after the CLB series. With that said, they aren't a horrific team with no hope of ever winning. They need someone and some things to emerge that haven't happened yet, and may never.

Have to say with how shit the goalies have been and shitty the defence that was configured by the incompetent GM, it's a miracle where we are in the standings.

Feels like the last GM would have use some of that 15M in cap space to upgrade the D this offseason instead of going the Domi, Reavo, Bert and Klingberg route. I'm still pretty shocked the best we could do with Tre is Klingberg

I meant in the sense that they have an online reputation to maintain. There are a lot of intelligent posters on here. I don’t see the level of criticism that this team deserves from them. It’s usually a “well I expected this to happen and it did but we’ll get em next time” attitude.

Don’t think it makes a difference anyway but this team is very comfortable and they enjoy near unconditional support from this fanbase. In fact, I think HF leafs is probably the most critical group of Leafs fans out there. The rest of your post I agree with mostly.

Our core guys are 27-28 now with Rielly and Tavares even older. They are what they are. The days of hoping they’ll change, for me, are over.

Reputation is an interesting thing around here and it leads to a lot of hyperbole. I think most on favour of keeping the core understand rather than accept the losses. They wanted better and think we're capable of more, rather than accept the team has failed and should only ever be expected to do the same going forward.

Either way, thanks for expanding on your use of acceptance

Yes, according to the system the coaches want them to play, Rielly should have taken the pass away and let Willy track back on the carrier. But we could see the end result was that Willy could've taken the pass but because of the system that was never his man and they didn't adapt.
I'm not sure what to think about that goal.

Apparently we're not allowed to point out the bad giveaway by Matthews that resulted in the 2-on-1. Or the fact that Nylander was too far back to cut off the pass even if he had switched targets.

On a simple 2-on-1, which this was, the defenceman is supposed to focus more on the pass. It's not, and never was, as simple as 'cut off the pass and leave the shot to the goalie'. That's ok for little kids, but not once you hit 9 or 10.

Beyond the turnover, the problem was that Rielly was a bit too deep and too close to the puck carrier, and Willy couldn't get back in time to make it a real 2-on-2.

A good coach borderline very good but good is more accurate. He would get hired quickly if let go.

To be honest, I'm shocked he has hung on this long.

Keefe is totally out of his depth and has also been neutered by management so.. I almost have to give him credit for hanging in there this long. He should have been gone long ago and certainly over the summer where the team had an opportunity to make some real change and decided to do nothing but come back worse.

Has Keefe passed any tests?
Level 1 coaching certificate. Thats the basics on how bullying can come in many forms and has no place in hockey. Be positive and thoughtful in your criticism and please never offend.

Considering up until as recently as this summer, a select few blowhards would say just that if you dared question the genius that is this team...

You're bang on

Fact not getting enough attention:

Rod Brind’Amour doesn’t have a contract with Carolina past this season, and is in the bottom 10 coaches in annual pay.

Throw money at this guy to get him come over.

Who says no?

Not me! (ignore the fact that they aren't going to be asking me for my opinion.) ;)

In all seriousness, I couldn't find much fault with that kind of move at all.

Fire Keefe, use an interim head coach for the remainder of the season, then see who is available in the off-season. Cooper? Brind'Amour? Someone else?
