I still believe they’ll need another top 4 D if they want to go on a run.
I don’t want to judge based on what they’re doing during shinny season where everyone has lots of time and space, and I think they’ll need a heavy forward that can play.

Forward, which is what we've needed all along. Defending not the issue in playoffs, hasn't been for years. Not a bottom six bang and crash guy either, a legit 30 goal guy, preferably left wing.

Yep. What's interesting though is that the Leafs cap space will come in the form of LTIR for Muzzin.

This means that it doesn't accrue or grow as the season goes on. Muzzin's $5.6m on the cap means we can get a $5.6m dollar player, or a $10M at 50%, but the space does not grow as the season progresses.

So, we have no incentive to wait to make that trade. Dubas' can strike early. Our D will be solid, maybe we pick up a veteran D to bump Mete to 9th on the depth chart, but I am good with...

Hollowell could turn himself into an asset as well. We can expect to add Knies, but no reply on him.

I like the idea of a 3rd liner or two..maybe Knies/Malgin/Robertson will show they can fill one of those spots.

On forward, like you I would like to add a heavy skater that can cycle or 2. I watched the tb Bruins game the other day and both those teams play heavy structured games through 4 lines and we will need to match that

Secondary scoring should be #1! Defense is not the issue on this team honestly!

Ok I am not big on this thread (too early). Absolutely with you on the depth, the big 4 are doing everything.

In full agreement with you on this one. I think it's premature to even know what we need. As you say, it could be injuries, and enough to not bother making a move... or we could have players emerge, Robertson might cement his place, a Marlies player like Steeves, or Anderson might come up, and steal a spot. Holmberg might continue to grow to become a legitimate 3C for us... maybe we get all of our D back, and it looks solid.

We've got a good record, and they've really banded together to play well as a group, yet it feels like a work in progress, more than other years.

Doesn't even need to be a guy who pulls up his teammates, just a Kapanen/Hagelin/Grabner type that's a solo breakaway threat (that can actually convert on breakaways) would be enough.

I think you will be very disappointed if you think Knies will be able to step into the NHL and be a difference maker for Toronto, probably could handle himself on a 3rd/4th line, but anything more then that I think you will be disappointed.

Anyways, I think a top 6 scoring forward is biggest need.

I'd actually prefer toews because he'd be way cheaper.
