Swear 50 years from now some fans are just going to be reflexively complaining about the Mason Marchment trade sitting in the nursing home.
The team needs to add what they lack not more of the same. Yes a top6/9 winger/centre is needed, but should it be a smaller water bug? Or a player who is physical with heart and talent? Which do we lack??
Next point D. Who was noticeable D in the last 4 years playoffs?

I doubt it, things run their course. It may come up if people are making fun of the Dubas era but it will be forgotten soon enough like many things that are beaten to death here daily.
Top 6 forward. 1 more defence first, block shots, big body, bottom defence pairing.
Leash everyone except the core 4 and stop the 4 man attack. Honesty, the core 4 doesn’t need holl joining the rush every play. Build a shutdown line without any of the core 4 on it and line match to get Matthews free.
We need all of our defence to play more like gio and less like rielly.
Blocking shots is key. If you watch Tampa in the playoffs you cant get shots by their defence they literally block everything.

I really like this answer. This team, as is, is good enough to be near the top of the standings. Even without any changes.

The thing is too, there are a ton of the same comments every year - need to add a top 6 forward and a top 4 dman.
Problem is, TDL additions cost a lot. Even if two players like that are just rentals, it's going to cost us a ton, maybe Knies and a 1st and maybe more depending on who the players are. Some people want Kane, that would probably cost Knies and a 1st right there. And then will those same people clamoring for these additions be all over Dubas next year because "the cupboards are bare"?
The only way I would trade futures for the present is if the player(s) we add are under contract for past this season, like the Muzzin trade. But keep in mind that even a trade like that, if we don't win the cup people will be complaining about that as well down the road, just like they're now complaining about the Muzzin trade. The other way I would trade futures if it's a more minor deal, giving up a 3rd round pick or WE is fine.
If the goalies keep up the good work, that'll be 10 times more important than anything we add at the deadline. Everyone just needs to be ready to play and the bigger the games are, the more ready they should be. No more getting outscored 15-2 in 3 consecutive game 7's, that's unacceptable and if we don't show up ready to battle, no TDL acquisition will matter.
I believe this team is really good and if the goalies are on, we can beat anyone. They just need to show that they can do it when it counts, in the playoffs.

Either 300k or closer to 4 mil, I'm not sure if it's his AAV or remaining daily cap hit that's subtracted from the available space.

I'd say $300k, so without moving Robertson and Mete they'd have to do something else.

They have a ton of LTIR space you got Muzzin Mete and Robertson on LTIR, you got a top 5 team in the NHL.

They did it because Rielly is coming off LTIR and they needed $7.5 million space so he can come off. Right now they have $7,885,000 in LTIR space.
They have exactly $385,000 in space once Rielly and his $7.5 million comes off LTIR.

in my opinion it would cost a 1st, Knies, and maybe a 4th and maybe throw in Clifford to seal the deal and open up another contract spot for us as well. (this using Muzzins ltir fund)
