Keith, nah, no one said that, did they?
I thought we just liked him because he live tweeted a Taco Bell date or whatever.
It was Chipotle I think lol.
I don't think anyone said he would bounce back, if not only because he was off the team before that horrible season even came to an end.
There was a small but vocal crew that were way too high on him. One guy insisted he was a starter and didn't like Cory (even when he was still good) or butterfly goalies and he didn't like Blackwood early on because he was taking Kinkaid's game and he even referred to him as Hamburglar 2.0 a lot. He would also constantly use ''Wins'' over every other stat and claimed that Cory only had ONE elite season and that doesn't make him elite, despite the fact that he was really good (elite) EVERY season up until 2016-2017. This was the poster who said he'll be better than Holtby and he would definitely be a starter soon. Meanwhile, Keith Kinkaid was actually about 2.5 months older than Holtby, as hard to believe as that was. He was also a Long Island guy like Keith and may have even known him or his family in real life. He once also cited Domingue's 20 win season (the year before he played for us when he was with the Lightning) and how this means he's not bad.
And then there was one guy that would try to shave goals off of Kinkaid. ''Well if that skater didn't try to block the shot, Kinkaid would have only allowed 2 goals tonight and not 3'' or ''If the PK didn't just give up in the final minute, Kinkaid would have only allowed 1 goal for the game and not 2 and it wouldn't have dropped his save percentage on the season by one point''.
And after Kinkaid took over as the starter and Hynes let him run with it (which I was behind by then, Cory was KILLING us after he came back that year, we would have missed the playoffs if Hynes was stubborn and started the ''Proven'' vet that was elite not too long ago) then people wanted me to eat crow. I proclaimed Kinkaid would ''Probably be out of the NHL in about 2 years from now'' right before his late season run started. And I even had people asking after that ''Still think he's out of the league in 2 years?''.
Kinkaid was indeed out of the league by December of 2019. I think I said that back in December of 2017 or maybe January of 2018? Keith Kinkaid wasn't too far behind Cory Schneider on the waiver wire that year. He did come back in 20-21 as a call up for the Rangers and played some games while Shesterkin was out injured, as well as getting one lone start against Arizona last season, but him not having a full time job in the league since November-December of 2019 would qualify as being out of the league. That would qualify as AHL goalie/third string status.
