For the 1st game of the season, tonight's was a beauty.

The intensity, effort and result was a great way to get over the stigma of the lockout.

Even though the PP didn't officially score, I like that they are finally giving Krejci a go on the point. In his last season in Gatineau, he often manned the point on the PP and was quite effective.

He wasn't bad and no we don't have better unless you prefer Pandolfo or Caron

Lost just about every battle and every time he had the puck on his stick he never looked to make a play, just shoot it in. We need more than that from that spot on the third line. There is a reason at 27 he has never played more than 35 games in the NHL.

Very impressed with Hamilton. I just expected him to try to not do anything wrong...but he was confident..moved the puck well...very poised...very exciting.

Playing with one of the most underrated d-man in the league certainly helps.

Good on Claude for placing him in a spot to succeed and gain confidence right away.

Bourque had a bad giveaway... Claude sat him for a few shifts, calmed him down and he was fine after that. He played fine IMO.

Just feel he's a waste of time, no upside.... bring up a young guy groom him. I think you will see Lane on that line soon.

I diddnt expect much considering the situation but I have to say I expected a lot more from Seguin. Thought he was pretty much our most invisible forward.

I liked Hamilton for the most part...once he bulks up he will be a force. His mobility is great for a big guy. He seems a bit indecisive when it comes to getting his shot off but as he gets more comfortable he wont have to take that extra second.

Overall, very impressed with the team. Great win.

Well I missed this one (predicted a Rags victory).

  • The boys looked right on their game, specifically a Bruins type game. Closing in, cutting down angles and circling the wagons when need be.
  • Tukka looked sharp and confident. One fluky goal he no chance of picking up.
  • PP had 8 shots on net, looked decent. DK essentially scores so it's not really a true 0-7, not to mention one penalty was a time killer at the end of the game.
  • 4th line was a catalyst for a lot of the play.
  • The only weak areas were probably Sequin and Horts. I thought their timing looked a little off, but that will come.
  • Hammy looked fine, got turned once or twice but not with any bad repercussions.
Remember too, this is a very good Rangers team with stellar goaltending.

Some bubbling below the surface emotion too. I don't like the call on Looch, but it shows me he still had his heart in the game even with only a few minutes left on the clock.

Amen to this. Seids is the best guy to put him with out of all our D-men, I think. I thought Dougie looked more comfortable than I expected tonight. Hopefully there are more ups than downs for him this season. I think he had a really good start.

I liked him on the point better than the half wall.

I think what I mostly liked about the PP-was they were actually moving and I liked the fact that the defense would occasionally pinch up. Basically some aspects definitely looked better even if they didn't score (let's give it a chance against a goalie who isn't a machine). I still think they stink at getting into the zone though and sometimes the passes are slow and sloppy.

Hamilton was impressive-he was better than I expected and had a lot of poise. I still figure he is going to have some growing pains, but I think this kid is here to stay and will be contributing.

McQuaid is probably not entirely in game shape given he was just clearly to play. But overall I thought the defense looked excellent. Very few huge defensive breakdowns (other than the Chara penalty and the goal).

Nash is going to be good for the Rangers, but the Rangers don't have any other huge scoring threats on other lines-Julien just has to send Chara onto the ice and say "go get 'em" and Chara gets him over and over and over again (and Nash got hit by the Chara train several times).

I am in FLA, and only watched part of the game on my laptop (and the stream sucked), but I'm assuming that Bourque played 3rd line LW as was posted in the starting lineup?

Let me get this straight, you are bit**ing about the lack of production from Bourque, but are advocating MacDermid take his place on the 3rd line?

:laugh::laugh:

If you had said put MacDermid on the 4th line and bump Paille up, that might be worth a look, but MacDermid is not a 3rd line NHLer now, and likely will never be one (at least not any more than Bourque).

Bourque is young. Why not groom him?

27 is a little late for a groom. Plus he is way to small, what does he bring to the table beside being able to skate fast. Sorry I just dont see why he is even on this team.

He is not a NHL player, sure he is a star is the AHL but that is where he should be tonight. My last post on this guy dont want to get folks all mad and all.

Did we watch a different game? Because I thought Bourque was fine. He wasn't flashy or anything, just did his job. One bad giveaway, but he wasn't terrible.

Give the guy a chance.

 all you want ,not ******* about this guys production because there will be none. Why brake up the forth line ? Bourque has had MANY chances to stick and make it fact is he stinks, if his name was Smith he would never been on this team.

Give Lane a chance he could be NO worst that #48 on that line and will NEVER throw it away with the fear of getting hit.

End of rant. Great Great game .

Fine meaning no major errors, but he didn’t make any plays either. Reminded me of Marchand in his 20 game stint with the Bruins in 2009-10, he needs to bring more if he is going to cement his spot on the Bruins.

Was underwhelmed by Seguin but I think he'll need to adjust again from where he was playing, different style

Overall a great effort and a solid win, I thought Hamilton looked comfortable.

Hockey is back!
