Not a really exciting game, but Miller was outstanding. Good for Kadri continuing his production out there.

Doesn't get any easier though. The Pens will be a tough game.

Gotta hit the net more, and our PP has to change somehow, we just pass the puck around until we lose it like morons, and that's if we even get into the zone.

Not looking forward to the Pens.

I'd go with Scriven's Wednesday and Reimer Thursday, Scrivens did nothing to lose the net tonight.
We can not win these type of low scoring games with scrivens playing. We can not even score with scrivens playing in front of the net. He has to be pulled and traded. We need other players (goalies).

Pittsburgh game has already been lost.

What would be the result of that game?

6-2 Pens?

How is it a failure if one of the youngest teams challenges for a playoff spot and misses it by a few points? As long as we show growth, there is no failure this year.

I like growth, sure.

But another finish in 10/11/12 place means we pick another player that doesn't impact this team for 3-4 years, if at all.

A lower finish = impact player.

I'm not a tanker, I'm pulling for the playoffs like any fan should, there's just a part of me that would rather see us either make it, or convincingly not, and add a leader up front.

Man do we have some "great" goalies right now. :biglaugh:

This is not playoff team with these goalies I can assure you.

even the idea of playing against pittsburgh with ether one of these stupidos is alarming.

Make a trade or lose the season.
three goals in two games, I'll take that anytime

The Good -

Phaneuf - two games in a row now playing very responsible D
Kostka - really like his instincts at both ends of the ice, he's earned the ice time he's getting
Kadri - more ice time please! looks dangerous as ever and it looks like he's even smarter with the puck
Bozak - could have easily had a couple more assists in this game, although if he's gonna be on the PP he's gotta learn to let it rip every once in a while
Komarov - like his game, he'll be around for a while
Scrivens - Not spectacular but 3 GA in 2 games is hard to complain about

Meh -

Kessel/Lupul - had a couple chances but pretty weak couple of games to start the season
Fraser - decent presence, would much rather have seen Franson
JVR - definitely the weak link on the 3rd line right, get the feeling he's putting a lot of pressure on himself

Bad -

KGM - replace Mac with Frattin and I'd bet this line gets it together, nothing so far

Keeping things in perspective, a decent game against a solid team. Sucks we couldn't get one on an extended 5 on 3 but we hit like 3 posts. Couple of those go in and we're 2-0.

Kadri - Grabo - MacArthur
Kulemin - McClement - JVR
Brown - Steckel - Komarov

DO THIS ^^^

typical Leaf game...we hit the post twice and none of them goes in...Bufflo no posts...if one of those went in, we have a different outcome.

Kadri is by far the most talented Center we have, give it time, but there is already a marked difference in his game than Grabo's. Grabo skates miles and accomplishes very little, but Kadri just creates when he is out there. Clear difference in talent, some players just have a knack creating offence, some work very hard with little results. That's the key point of the 2, Bozak had a fantastic game tonight also, he hit, won face-offs, made 2 great passes, the guy was a workhorse tonight. Lupul needs to get it going, Kessel too. Kessel looks rusty. Dion was solid tonight, one of the best games I have seen from him. Even though we lost.

Yes agree that Bozak played a monster game....his line mates not so much....bad at tracking the puck and hesitant in going to the dirty areas. Kessel had some great chances as a result of some hard work by others and did not bury.

Kadri is as promised, gifted hands and great vision....he is tough as well......just how the hell did Wilson keep him off the Leafs roster...shows just how much he knows about assessing talent.

Leafs won 49/64 faceoffs. 70.3%

Strength of the leafs on the faceoffs or the weakness of Buffalo at faceoffs?

Start Scrivens next game. Reimer against Isles.

Agreed. I thought Scrivens was solid for us, especially in the third with some nice saves. I'd give him another chance to see what we've got.

Also better to start Reimer against a weaker team to see what he's got.

Meh Kadri was invisible tonight until the puck bounced on his stick with an open net.

Top 5 pick here we go.

They need to be all game. There's a reason why the Jets have such a great home record. Their fans

The Jets have such a great home record because they play in a division that makes absolutely no sense geographically. Southeast teams have the longest travel of any division team in the NHL when they go to Winnipeg. Most of the Eastern conference has to travel a stupid distance to get to Winnipeg. That makes a bigger difference than the fans, who's noise is overrated seeing as how they're the smallest arena in the NHL.

All in all cant be too upset. Buffalo is our nemesis. Have been for most of the past 20 years ive seriously watched hockey.

Dion was excellent tonight. Kadri needs more ice time.

2nd and 3rd lines need to be shuffled. Switch Komarov and Mac.

Ok and Reimer would do any better? Scrivens has given up 3 goals in 2 games. Like I said he provided us a chance to win and if we played a bit better we could've won the game..Scrivens played well
