I think he needs a night off and just to watch. He's lost his toughness IMO. I hate how he has lost that grit to not be afraid to be that guy getting garbage goals. He'd have 10+ goals by now if he did that too.Tonight to me he seemed a bit lost so my. 02 cents

If anything I'm becoming more confident we can win in a shootout than I was when we were 0-3. I still would rather see some OT wins if it gets there though.

Only because of Patty am I confident. Patty is still only 50% which is very good, but if he don't score I don't know who will. Sure Clarkson scored the other night, but he's inconsistent. Henrique isn't very good in the shootout, and Kovy needs some more advice from Marty.

Everyone says players were playing great lets say we lost in the shootout everyone would say "we suck".

If they had lost in the shootout, there would definitely be more focus on all the missed opportunities by the Devils. It's still a problem even though they 'won', but I think the bigger thing is that Moose came up huge in the third, OT, and the SO. We haven't been able to say that much for the last month.

I guess goalies figured Kovalchuk out in the shootout. He used to just rifle lazers in five hole every time but that doesn't seem to be working anymore.

Bleedred? Goalie aficionado, you think so too?

We can't afford to sit Clarkson at the moment, our top 6 depth is already thin as a rake. Ideally, Clarkson shouldn't play on those lines just to start with.
Nonetheless the scoring chances are there, he gets a lot of shots on net, he just needs to bury one and he'll get his confidence back. On the other hand, not scoring goals is one thing but getting only 2 pts in his last 12 games is literally frightening, let's agree on this.

Guy needs to be put back where he belongs as soon as possible, on the 3rd line.

im with you on that, his slump is kinda scary. but im hoping its just that. but carter zajac clarkson was a pretty good third line.

if we filled in the top 6 with a trade and solidified the 4th, that would be the definition of rolling 4 lines.

and also stopped the random line ups to let guys get comfortable with each other rather then it being a guess as to who they were playing with any given shift, you gotta think it starts to mess with someones head and screws up focus.

just stick with something for more then a game and things will click, hell even a period would be nice at this point.

They definitely sat Sal last night, he needed it, no injury there. I was behind bench tonight, he had grit tonight I liked it. They were great in first period. Henrique is pissing me off, coasting around like a ******* i was screaming at him all night. he's not hustling and it pissing me off.

I agree completely. I think they just sat him (Sal)

Well it's no secret Kovy's shootout goal percentage before last season was not good. I think it was something like 25%? Or maybe even 22%? something like that. Then last year he went like 11 for 14 or something which was the most of any player in a single season (The shootout is only 7 seasons old now)

The goalies could be scouting him better though. He claimed Marty gave him tips last year, and that was what made him successful in the shootout. By no means did I think he'd have the luck that he had last year though, but now he's like 1 for 5 on the season. Also is it me or did he not always skate so far out to side before his attempt like he did tonight? He swung a pretty wide right.

I seem to remember that Kovy only had 12 shootout goals in 6 years coming into last season. He had 11 alone last season which almost doubled it.

Since they miss the net on most shots anyway, I say the D take shots at Clarky's rear end. The shooting percentage is bound to improve when a couple of them go in.

The thing that annoys me with Henrique is that he has been missing the net like 6 times out of 10 of his shots lately.

Who do we consider our worst defenseman in terms of play this season?

Uhhh.... Tallinder played 2 of the worst games of anybody this season, but he's been fine aside from those 2 or 3 games. We've had a couple who've been back and forth though.

With Zubrus and Marty back and a pipe dream trade to land Versteeg, this team has the potential to cause havoc.

I'm a Zids fan, but he loves the glass as much as Rolston when it comes to shooting

Don't know if true or not but Sal was excellent tonight. He had his tough grit and was very solid in the O zone. Noticed lots of good keeps in the zone and some nifty little passes.

Volch was a warrior too. He took a lot of a use in the 3rd but kept trucking.

The cleanest game the Dev's have played in awhile. And good solid effort. Can feel good after this one.

But does he play enough to be considered our worst?
