Weekes: Weekes stirring up Pittsburgh rumors?

Rantanen staying would not have determined if Makar stays. They could have signed both if they wanted to

I don't think the Avalanche - or anyone - wants to follow the Maple Leafs blue print of handing a few guys the bag and then rotating in a bunch of has-beens, AHLers and never-was's to play on the rest of their lines and then bowing out in the first round each year.

You would probably be surprised to see a good chunk of the Penguins board happy to see Crosby get off of this current team/FO and have another opportunity to cement his legacy.

Hell, he’s one of the very few reasons this team is even hovering around 500 this season. It would actually be a win win for the Pens. They would bottom out next year for potentially McKenna while getting to watch Crosby on a competent team.
I mean idk every time the topic comes up of him leaving the Penguin fans all get so defensive 😂

If Vancouver is tired of Demko's injury history, I wonder if something around Jarry+Pettersson for Hoglander+Demko could work?

I still have a notion that Jarry could be a decent goalie on a team not being dragged down by Mike Sullivan's defensive system.

Where are the numerous first rounders/prospects a team will need to even consider trading for Jarry?

It’s because the other guy is just lying. A huge majority of Penguins fans do not want to see Crosby leave.

There are just a sector of fans that want the team to be as bad as possible as quickly as possible so they can get high draft picks.

I’m not saying Sid is dishonest, but athletes say things and go back on them all the time. It’s as speculative to say “Mack will throw a hissyfit if they trade Rantanen” as it is to assume Sid’s stated intention to stay in Pittsburgh is iron-clad

Anyway. Colorado wasn’t mentioned at all, but it’s not much of a stretch to think of them as a likely partner

Not needed. Jarrys play can improve whereas Demko's health has made him unreliable at best. With Jarry, you're at least getting a goalie you can play. Hoglander is a cap dump at this point for the Canucks. Gaps in value are made up by the Canucks getting a top 4 dman.

Or to put it another way, Pettersson for Demko, Jarry for Hoglander.

Jarry can improve but hoglander is a pure dump? Several years of terrible unreliable goaltending and nobody took him for free. You need retention plus picks attached

Jarry and Hoglander are both dumps from their respective teams and both have the opportunity to play better.

I guess each team could retain? $1mil on Jarry, $1mil on Hoglander, $1mil on Demko...

I mean each player sans Pettersson has major cons that even out value. This is merely a swap of risk in hopes players do better with new teams.

The idea that only the Pens would need to retain when we're talking returns of Demko and Hoglander is humorous.

nobody is touching jarry with 3 more years left on his deal unless Pens make a move like LA did with Cal Peterson

I could wake up tomorrow a millionaire with a hot broad wanting to marry me.

It won't happen. But it could.
