Mittelstadt + Necas for JT Miller + 1st round pick.

Van:
Boeser - Pettersson - Necas
DeBrusk - Mittelstadt - Sherwood
Joshua - Blueger - Garland
Hoglander - Suter - Heinen

It could work.
If Mittlestadt is the Canucks 2C, they’ll be in the lottery. We haven’t seen a player fall overnight like this, since Jimmy Carson in the early 1990s.

He’s literally one of the worst players in the NHL right now because he’s so bad defensively, you can’t match him up against other top lines. So he’s become a $5.6 million 4th liner.

He either has some mental issue or he’s not able to play with some lingering injury. Safe to say he better not be in any return for Miller. He’s gonna end up in Chicago or Pittsburgh, or some other team who’s years away, where the contract isn’t an anchor.

You would probably be surprised to see a good chunk of the Penguins board happy to see Crosby get off of this current team/FO and have another opportunity to cement his legacy.

Hell, he’s one of the very few reasons this team is even hovering around 500 this season. It would actually be a win win for the Pens. They would bottom out next year for potentially McKenna while getting to watch Crosby on a competent team.
I wouldn't mind tbh. Would give Crosby meaningful hockey to play, and finally give this team some direction. As much as I love Crosby pens are stuck in purgatory until he retires.

That said he's not going to leave after convincing Malkin and Letang to stay, and just signing his extension a few months ago.

Weekes is just stirring the pot...he's usually right about things but I wouldn't sense anything immediate in Pittsburgh
I could see a Marcus Pettersson trade happening soon. Or not soon. But it wouldn't be shocking if it were soon. Something bigger than that doesn't seem likely, though.
Who's this guy?

Ryan Graves, you ARE a Colorado Avalanche (again)!

What the hell are you talking about? This a complete lie.

A huge majority of the Penguins board wants both Crosby and Malkin to retire as Penguins.

Erik Karlsson makes sense. It hasn't worked out here, no chemistry. It might work elsewhere.
Yeah, it didn't work with Burns around, doesn't work with Letang around.. I'm sure Makar will be different!

Good lord… logged in after many many months. This place is still infested with incredibly stupid people.
You'll fit right back in.

Generational trade value.
Thats what you get if your "franchise-player" decides where to go.... And that wouldnt be so bad under the circumstances....

Remember the Giroud-Trade to Florida?

Colorado had the better offer on the table and Philly wanted this deal, but Giroux only wanted Florida/Miami and Philly had no choice to fulfill his wish.

I dont say that Crosby gets traded, i dont think so at all. But if (and crazier things have happened), its gonna be on Sids term and Pittsburgh will have to eat whatever comes back.

If we're talking Colorado, I think Rakell is the player that actually makes sense. He has 23 goals and 41 points in 49 games this year while playing with Crosby, which would rank him 1st in goals and 4th in points on the Avs now that Rantanen is gone. With Necas wanting to play center apparently, moving Rantanen opens up a RW spot.

With Nichushkin healthy, they could run with a top-6 of:

Drouin-MacKinnon-Rakell
Nichushkin-Necas-Lehkonen

I don't know where that leaves Mittelstadt but that top-6 looks terrific to me.

Weekes was a shoe-in to be Bob McKenzie's successor - he had the inside line on all the trades and the expansion draft, but he blew it by making stupid posts like these that went nowhere. If he didn't make these posts all the time, I'd be convinced something was going down.

I would say thats more Friedman than anybody.

Weeks just always posts shit like this hoping that something happens. Along the lines of even a blind squirrel finds nut once in a while.

why wouldn't colorado just deal with vancouver instead of carolina. it's not like vancouver is going to say no to rantanen. avs wanted necas

I always just assumed McKenzie gave Weekes his sources because he was retiring. I don’t think Weekes ever broke trades the way he does now while Bob was doing his thing.

I wonder who kicks tires on Rakell. Three more years at $5M but he's a decent top six winger. Only eight teams on his NTC. Gotta be a GM who values a player like Rakell out there who knows one of their centres would love to have him on the wing.

I don't reallypay attention to weekes' eyeball tweets. Feel like these are always the most speculative of speculative
Yea this could be about Crosby moving or it could be about them promoting one of their scouts or something

And have replacement level players in the top 6 for the rest of those contracts

I was going to point out, just look at the Leafs but the difference is if you give out big money at least do to for players that have delivered.

Regardless, a GM makes it very hard on himself building a contender with 3+ monster contracts no matter what their names are. I give Sakic props for having the stones to making this deal, even if the fans and/or Mack aren't happy about it right now.

Malkin and Rakell could realistically be moved, and I think Colorado would be interested

Malkin no retention plus Rakell @ 50% would bring back a good haul I think

There are certainly Penguins posters that would rather see Crosby have a shot at another cup than to wither away in Pittsburgh. Myself included.

May have overshot the “good chunk” portion of my message but there are def some of us.

Realistically according to who? Malkin is in the same boat as Crosby. Rakell is a different story
I don’t see it that way. I think Malkin would get the courtesy and respect of Dubas asking him before shopping him, but I would not say he’s off limits like Sid is.
