Erik Johnson looked smooth practicing his puck rushing.

The Canes still haven't solved their goalie situation yet. Nedeljkovic let in 4 goals on 16 shots tonight. I almost want to start Hutch on Friday and just hope we can win the game 8-7. Then let Frankie stonewall the Preds. That might be the best way to go, but it will probably be Francouz on Friday. Depending on how that goes, we may even see him again Saturday.

Who else has a feeling that this season is going to be cancelled due to Coronavirus? The way things are progressing, I doubt we see playoffs.

It’s plausible. I hope we get some good news soon. This thing seems to get more concerning by the day. I’m cancelling my upcoming air travel and driving. I don’t want to go near an airport with a baby at home.

If it’s going to get bad here that’s where it’ll start, a concert/sporting event or an airport.

Yeah, I just read up on the last day and I'm starting to think you might be on to something.
Hopefully it goes nowhere, but sporting events will be the first thing to get shut down. Can’t have 19k people sitting in a building with this going around

They have EMS sign up for special events as a side gig. Luckily there is less in the winter, but I ain't signing up for any.

I'm hoping it does not spread fast enough that the health system is completely overwhelmed. The health system is already understaffed.

I'm going to have to teach the girlfriend how to do IVs. Hydration is the hardest part of surviving something like that.

I did see something the other day about them working on a vaccine, and being hopeful. Hopefully it wasn't just propaganda.

Fyi, those soft masks you see in pictures are more to protect others from you than you from others. The hard form N95 masks are what you need. I grabbed some from work, but you can get them at the hardware store.

The problem is that it has shown to have an incubation period of up to 27 days, which means people are walking around spreading it, before showing any symptoms.

also the test costs 3k and isn’t covered by insurance.

also the CDC is in shambles.

Covid-19 (there are many types of coronaviruses) is the media running wild and being irresponsible. The death rate outside the immuno compromised is low. It makes sense to limit exposure if you have a baby, are old, or have an underlying health issue... but those are the same precautions as you should always take. Flu is a much, much bigger threat. 14000 have died in the US during this flu season and that is with fairly effective vaccines and knowing how to treat it. The overly sensational news stories on covid 19 are blowing it all out of proportion.

It has 23x the mortality rate of the flu, and spreads much easier. There’s a reason people are worried about this, and it’s not the media.

You are right, and I am not running out and buying more ammo and gold, but its serious enough.

We also have a problem here in the US of people not getting vaccinated. That's both parents with their children, and the old. My parents for whatever reason just don't bother going in and getting it despite how much shit I give them.

I wouldn't say the Flu is a larger problem simply comparing the two.

It doesn’t at all spread easier and the death rate is low outside of those factors. The media is quoting some real sensationalist stuff and getting people in a frenzy. My wife is a epi working directly on covid-19.

Those factors?

like being over 50? Or already sick? Lol what do you think will happen to the economy if this gets out of control? That affects everyone.

look what’s happening in China, Iran, South Korea, Italy. Do you think China would shut down their economy if it was all just sensationalism?

Yeah I do... people freak out over little things. The overall death rate is around 2% right now in a less developed health care system. It is going to go down simply because it will reach better health care systems. Then doctors are learning how to treat it. On top of that, most of the symptoms are very mild and similar to a cold... most people don’t go get tested for this when they just have a cold. The overall death rate is projecting below 1% once the data all comes in, but even sticking with the over 2%... SARS was 11 and MERS was 35. I’m not saying don’t take precautions, but the risk is smaller than the flu.
