Buffalo Bills Week 4: Bills @ Ravens

Man, if we're out Oliver, Phillips, Settle, Poyer, and Hyde on top of White and Jackson, then this matchup becomes a whole lot more interesting.

How many defenses can be out SIX starters AND a top Backup and still be a viable NFL defense.

How many offenses can play against a team out six starters AND a top backup, lose, and still be considered a viable offense? All we need is One.

Two things regarding Miami:

1. If the offense is healthy, I think our defense is good enough even with all of the injuries to go toe to toe with Miami. The injuries at worst make us even with the Dolphins defense and I still trust our offense over theirs.

2. Their wins don’t deserve the credit they are getting IMO. They beat the lowly Patriots with only 1 offensive TD. They beat the Ravens in only 1 of 4 quarters. Hill and Waddle’s YAC makes up almost half of their yards gained. Let them have a big play here and there if they can. They won’t be able to sustain their offense to keep up with the Bills.

Anything can happen, but it won’t ruin my optimism about this team if somehow Miami steals a win.

There’s a chance they go into the game missing the entire starting secondary. Starting two rookie DBs. I expect mistakes and a blown coverage or two. If they can hold Miami to under 20 points I’d consider it a major accomplishment.

Next man up, they have spent years drafting and building depth. Johnson and Hamlin can hopefully step in, Bryant can step in, Lewis can step in. They have Neal back there, I wonder if they slide Basham inside and give reps to Lawson or maybe call up Love.

Holding Miami under 30 given these circumstances would be impressive.

As we've seen all too often with Hill, one or two guys taking bad angles on a crosser or reverse and...

In other news, the Steelers have been on a long, slow descent into looking like many drought era Bills teams. Great defense held back by a vanilla, do-nothing offense.

As much as Tomlin is revered as a great coach, his complete lack of aggressiveness hurts them more than it helps. Dude called for a punt from Cleveland's 40 on 4th and 5. The Browns got back there in 2 plays.

Playing in camp practice against our guys and sine play last year if one safety and Milano play.. w tua time throw hopefully limited than any of kast 8 meetings I think that and velocity may allow the rooks to shine fir a week or w extra help and Milano on gusecki

Boy, am I glad they drafted Elam and Benford now. We were EXTREMELY thin at CB depth before the draft. Now we have a chance. The good news is- it seems plausible we'll have Oliver and Settle back, which means we'll be almost completely healthy in the front 7.

The Dolphins O line is meh when healthy and downright bad when a tackle is out. I think our front-4 is going to put in work, and make life a lot easier on our beaten up secondary. Can't wait to see the secondary healthy, though. Been a long while since then.

It’s not like these safety’s and CBs haven’t played against good NFL competition. They’ve practiced for months now against Allen and some of the best WRs in the league.

Only four players on the Buffalo Bills’ roster have started more games than middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.

The 24-year-old is in his fourth season as a captain and in his fifth season calling out the defensive plays.

Yet, he’s younger than 31 rookies who made NFL debuts two weeks into 2022. And if Edmunds steps on the field just 10 more times this season, he will have played the most NFL games by any player so young.

That is one of the most mind boggling stats I've seen so far this season.

The bolded isn't mind boggling. Edmunds was drafted at 20 & many players are drafted at 24 or older. It's completely expected.

What IS more mind boggling to me is the first stat about only 4 players on the entire roster having played more NFL games.

I wonder about that one, even with it being about starts.

He does have one more start than Josh Allen, so that helps.

But his 63 career starts is less than Hyde (114), Miller (152), Poyer (91), Jones (112), Keenum (64), Diggs (97), Saffold (159), Morse (98), and Dawkins (76).

I wonder if they meant starts with the Bills.

This makes total sense because i second guessed it as well.

Yikes. If Poyer can't go (or plays below 100%) this might be a real problem.

Not so worried about Phillips assuming Oliver/Settle are both healthy.

Damn:

Misread Phillips for Poyer. Not too surprising these two are out.

Yea. Phillips I assumed was out all along due to the hammy. Hyde I assumed once the second opinion thing came out yesterday. Hopefully Poyer plays so there is some savvy in the defensive backfield.

If they can consistently make Tua run for his life it'll cover up a lot of deficiencies in the secondary. The D-line is gonna need to get pressure.

Yeah, even with our secondary banged up, I'm not worried about Tua. Guy balled out for exactly 1 quarter against a defense that always had a bad D line and then had its secondary completely decimated by injuries. Even if our banged up secondary misses some coverages, Tua isn't gonna have 5 minutes in a clean pocket on every snap, and absolutely no one is scared of what he's capable of doing if he has to improvise under pressure.
