I remember the days when we would be told how the Leafs are better than the Canes(really every team) at everything.
I miss those days. How quickly those who would talk down to everyone have disappeared. I guess that’s ‘expected’.
Remember when the Canes were going to give the Leafs Pesce and or Slavin for next to nothing

i miss the off season when it's all sunshine and rainbows and how all our bargain bin guys are quality players
They didn’t get that benefit this year from the fans or media. By day 2 of free agency I think the writing was on the wall and even the players realised it was going to be a lot tougher.

We're neck and neck with TB. They're one point behind us but have a game in hand, goal differential is the same. Of course instead of battling for 1st place in the East we're jockeying for position in the draft lottery. Oh well, can't have everything I guess.

Hindsight is great...
not really , before he was signed the discussion was about how we couldn't add his cap hit , sign and keep our 3 kids and then be able to have enough cap left to fill the roster

it just has turned out worse due to the deals Dubie handed out and JT's meh play after his first season here

So what. Tampa has the last 2 cups to help them sleep at night……we have 50 years of failure to rest on

Remember a few weeks ago when some posters told us that the Panthers were crap and not even close to the Leafs……..they lead the division and are undefeated

Don’t worry, up next is one of the worst teams in the league in Chicago.
We can beat up on them and people can be like, yeah, that’s what I’m talking about, our core. And people wanted to trade someone. Yeah, look at x-for everything. Yeah!

Ya the next game is a bomb waiting to go off ………can you imagine if they manage to lose that game

Good for Freddie that he's looking good early in the season, but to me his time with the Leafs was at an end and it was still the right move to not bring him back.

They couldn't afford him if they wanted to, so yeah I guess you're right.

He's on to bigger and better things so it seems like all parties got what they wanted, except of course Leafs fans who now have worse goaltending to watch.

As a Freddy fan, I’m glad he got out and found himself in a better situation.

Hard to watch him being scapegoated for this fundamentally flawed team’s failures.

Lets be real. Freddie wasn't the sole issue on this team, but his inconsistent play and letting in soft goals were a pretty big problem while he was here. Its not like he was playing amazing and the team let him down. The players in front of him could've been much better, but Freddie also could've been much better for the guys in front of him.

Time will tell. Hopefully Campbell will get better and Mrazek can stay healthy for most of the season so we can see if he's actually good or not.

When a team is not constructed properly, when a core is not the hard to play against (not just skilled to play against), then you really put other players in a position (like goalie, or Rielly) where anything short of perfection is going to cost you.

A well balanced team of 20+, hard working skilled stars and solid core, can survive with hard work and not perfection to succeed.

The problem here, is that people are always looking for a saviour to the deficiencies instead of being a well structured sum of the parts.

Of course. Win as a team, lose as a team. He could have been better but he wasn’t their problem.

I just find it interesting to hear about the bad goals from people who are confident in Campbell - that Gallagher goal to break the ice in game 7 was one you’d expect a pee wee to stop.
