Post-Game Talk: We suck - Leafs lose 4-1

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
Pathetic.

I have never disliked the entirety of this organization more than this current iteration. Everything from the GM down to the players. Only likable person in this organization at the moment is Spezza and he’s 38 making less than a million a year.

Blow it up.
I have the exact same sentiment

Keefe is going to get his ass fired sooner than I thought.

Dubas will follow at the end of the season.

Shanny? I'm not sure.
I said in preseason predictions same thing, and got lit up on these boards. "you suck, you're not a true fan," Where are those trolls now.

Might be time to boycott the Toronto Maple Leafs. Nothing else seems to work. It is painfully obvious that this is built wrong, but they show signs of madness and stay the course. If Shanny has any semblance of brass b@lls he would fire Dubas now, step in as interim GM, remove Keefe, (bring in a Keenan or Torts type, or even better bring back Babs) and remove 34 and 16. 16 is a useless tool and 34 is gone in 2 years anyway. No way Matthews is staying in this fishbowl longer than he has to.

I think it is now time to look at the future by tanking and righting this ship .

We are a very carless team Dermott takes a shot hits the opposition player , they end up scoring because Sandin is to weak to defend.
We give the puck up for no reason and then there is a 2 on 1, last night I counted 6.

Even when we start scoring this issues will be there.

I would fire Dubas and Keefe immediately, bring in an intern GM and coach.
Bring in someone to oversee Shanahan .

Trade for picks and prospects

Reilly
Muzzin
Kerfoot
Engvall
Marner at the draft

Hopefully Taveras will see the writing on the wall and wants to chase a cup.

Keep Mathews and Willy

Campbell is the real deal, he just needs a solid D in front of him.

Cross our fingers that we win the lottery
Shane Wright or Miroshnichenko

In the off season sign
Defenceman
Bryden Mcnabb 2.5 mil
Ben Chiarot 3.5 mil
Yandle 2 mil

Brodie Yandle
Holl Chiarot
Liljegren McNabb
Sandin

Forwards
Sign
Janmark 1.5 mil
Forsberg 5 mil

Bunting Matthews Nylander
Forsburg Taveras Wright ( my wish list )
Ritchie Kampf Ho Sang
Janmark Spezza Simmonds

Cap Hit
70,000,000

To finish of this season we can help teams for picks that wish to dump a contract

I remember the days when we would be told how the Leafs are better than the Canes(really every team) at everything.
I miss those days. How quickly those who would talk down to everyone have disappeared. I guess that’s ‘expected’.

:thumbu:

i miss the off season when it's all sunshine and rainbows and how all our bargain bin guys are quality players

the most depressing thing about last nights game is the team actually gave an effort

we're just no where near good enough

Could you have said that with less sarcasm? Lets be civil. Yes, Matthews does hunt down pucks, but Hyman took a lot of that burden on himself and Matthews had less work. Matthews is a master at stripping pucks. Thats fine, but do you really want Matthews (Our only superstar) to be a grinder? Wonky wrist and a history of shoulder troubles? That's what Ritchie was brought in for. But Ritchie seems disinterested. Engvall is a tool and Kerfoot is overpaid by 3.5 million dollars.

Best describe's Ritchie's NHL career.

The second AM inked a 5 year deal that takes him straight into his first year of Free Agency the writing was on the wall. He was never going to re-sign with TO. If he truly wanted to be there and not in the USA he would have signed for 8 years....not 5.

But please LeafNation......tell me again how much McDavid hates Edmonton and can't wait to leave lol
Except 4 years is what actually takes him straight to fa, not 5. But nice try, maybe understand the rules of the NHL before trying to talk.

If this crap show continues - 100% you will see Shanahan try and cover his greasy ass and fire Dubas - He is a Poltician and smart enough to know that he is not going to get thrown out with the bath water and go down with this sinking ship .,.. He will maneuver his way and keep his job .... You watch.

Hahahaha, all these "I was right" posts. Ridiculous. Let's wait 20 more games. A bad start to a season could turn out as what this team needs. No, I also don't have much hope but we'll see.
This is true, I remember a few years ago Montreal started the season 10-0 and missed the playoffs.

Wheres this highly skilled team everyone keeps telling me about ??? Bad hockey team that is over hyped by the media moguls who own the team
( Sportsnet / TSN ) ....

The worst part is Marner, Matthews and Tavares don’t seem to realize how toxic they are to this bunch.
Demanding no dress code but providing nothing in return

Let’s review.

Remember when you don’t trade 2 1sts to start a rebuild? That’s one lesson.

You don’t pay half the cap to 4 forwards and decimate your depth because of it. Especially when those 4 have intensity, forecheck, playing greasy issues.

You don’t pay a non goal scoring winger franchise money. Don’t care how pretty you think his dangles are.

Add these to the cart.

@HamiltonNHL In the GDT, you asked about where "skating distance" stat was tracked so I though I'd shed some light on it. The NHL has contracted a company to provide a lot more interactive data during broadcasts this year. There are sensors in pucks, on players and other stuff in arenas to collect this information that can be used by teams/broadcasts. It gives information such as players skating distance, speed, puck speed, puck distance in a pass, where players are on the ice, etc...

The company is located in Durham North Carolina and provides this information to each team's broadcasts (and national broadcasts), but I think it's up to the individual team broadcast to decide if they want to use this information, or how much of it they want to use (both for live feed, replays, and other graphics). My son works for this company so he basically gets paid to watch hockey games and then provide this information when a producer asks for it during the game. He has a different game/team that he has to cover from night to night so it's not 1 specific team. It seems that some teams broadcasts like to use this information more regularly than others.

I'm not sure how much of this information is then sent to each team after the fact for their own analysis, but I would assume they could get access to it if they so choose. I suspect some of the things they are trying out won't work out well and they'll come up with other things along the way.

EDIT: I think they intended to introduce it last season, but maybe Covid set that back.

NHL plans to deploy Puck and Player Tracking technology next season
