Absolutely, 100%. They are the guys that keep the team honest and together. You need more than one of them mind you. At the moment we have none.

Sir Alex Ferguson, one of the single most successful manager/coach in the history of sports is often asked who the best player he's ever managed was. Did he say Ronaldo, Rooney, Scholes, Keane, Van Nistelrooy, Stam, Cantona, Beckham, Giggs, Robson, Schmeichel?

Nope. Dennis Irwin. 7/10 guy. In 368 games for Man Utd., he never once played less than a 7/10. In hockey, you need half a dozen of those guys, regardless of their skillset. We have none (maybe Spezza).

Back checking is the biggest issue. We have half the team fake back checking by flailing their arms. Plus, we have no one to get Matthews the puck in the ozone. Now matthews has to get the puck himself. And in 4 games, Matthews has not let that shot fly. I think his wrist is still wonky.

I have never disliked the entirety of this organization more than this current iteration. Everything from the GM down to the players. Only likable person in this organization at the moment is Spezza and he’s 38 making less than a million a year.

With the way players play here vs. elsewhere it is looking more and more like this team's philosophy is fundamentally flawed. Something is wrong with the way they're teaching these players to play.

It was about Kerfoot more than anything. Leafs protected 4F 4D so a McCann trade wasn’t necessary to protect Holl anyway.

3.5m in cap space was worth more than what Kerfoot brings on the ice. Take it a step further, Kerfoot + Ritchie = 6M allocated towards cap. Roster is completely botched, it’s all a joke.

Carolina toyed with them. Had they not quit skating in the 3rd it would have 5 or 6-1.

And did you see the depth on that 3rd line? That is a number one line on most teams. Which makes their 4th line that much better. And their cupboards are full. They are going to have a great team for years to come and might win a cup with that depth this year.

Well, until they got no answers. Which seemed to be now.
Nomatter how we criticize the way they played, as long as they are winning or AM scoring goals or MM getting points or someone important is out injured- Hyman in a few yrs ago and JT in the playoffs, bad goalie, got out goalied or coaches fault….They won’t learn.
But now they ran out of excuses, no significant players is injured, can’t be the coach again, they also ain’t scoring, goalie is actually keeping them in the game.
If they still don’t learn to play properly like out working the opposing teams, they will continue to lose.

I find it hard to believe they'll be this poor for most of the season. But if it turns out to be that bad, then clean house -- coaching staff, coach, GM, president. Wasting the promise of what once looked like a perfect rebuild would deserve multiple firings.

The problem starts at the top with Shanahan. Letting Lou go and promoting Dumbass to GM is the leafs biggest downfall. Then Dumbass fires Babbs and replaces him with Sheldon who really sucks as a coach. This team is being run by Matthews and Mariner and it is always a disaster when players control the team. If dumbass was smart he would hire John Torterella and give him the green light kick some players ass and take back control of the team. If Matthews, Mariner and co don't like it. Tough. Trade them for equal value. Oh but this would require a GM that realy knows what he is doing. Because Dumbass would trade them for bags of pucks. When Lou was GM this team was going in the right direction.
