Nah, they'll go on a heater at some point and just squeek into the playoffs... and of course lose in the 1st round. A loss in the 1st round = house cleaning for me. When is enough enough?

I dunno about that. I'm sure they will go on some sort of hot streak, maybe two or three even. But all teams do that at some point and the Leafs have some high end talent to pull it off of course. But this team is far far less solid than they have been in the past couple years.

If last season had been normal conferences and the Leafs didn't get to beat up on Canadian teams are we so sure they would have made the playoffs? 1 year prior the Leafs didn't make the playoffs. I know a lot of people around here like to pretend we did, but we did not make the playoffs because a qualifying series is not a playoff series.

Since 2017 we have been getting progressively worse and so far this year the way they are playing is worse yet again. I can see us in 10th this year easily. If we are not 8th or higher by Christmas the changes need to start happening immediately. The owners of this team can not allow a full season to go by yet again without showing they are accepting changes are needed.

Gord Stellick (former GM of the Leafs at 30 years old LOL) pointing out that 3 years ago we were like the Canes are now, but today they are the new gold standard and Leafs have regressed to being that crappy team. "How has this happened?"

The Leafs are literally imploding as a directionless group and Captain John Tavares still consistently flies under the radar in terms of criticism. He’s like that high tech space gel NASA developed. Almost invisible like he’s not really there.

Nothing like a 'leader' you don't even notice! He's just too milktoast to be a captain imho. I wanted AM to get it. ALways been his team. That will be the TSN turning point imho for Matthews walking.

worst part for me is it seems like no one cares.. get blown out last game, big losing streak to start the season, and no one gives a shit. it's just "we haven't been good enough".. no urgency to score, no anger, lackadaisical plays down to the last second, no f***s given.. just we lost and on to the next one . it really seems like this team is actively coached to not show emotion, based on how players play on Toronto vs their previous/next teams.. why even have guys like Simmonds and Ritchie if you're not gonna let them goon it up when the team needs a spark?!

also they're playing like straight up garbage.. every game giving up multiple 2 on 1s with a breakaway here and there. absolute trash. wtf man

the point im making is how many teams do you know that have had to fire multiple coaches during a 2 year window due to a team "tuning them out"? i get it, its easier to fire one guy than 22 guys, but whos to say you dont get another coach and he has to be fired next year etc etc. maybe just hire a babysitter instead of a coach and pay them by the hour. the players on the ice have always been the issue, starting with tavares(which i hate to say cuz i geniunely think hes a good guy)

LA hired Sutter mid season and won the Stanly Cup with him
Habs fired Julien last year, went to the Finals

Nobody's to say the next coach is going to win anything. But Keefe should be fired for his embarrasment that he brought into this organization

Bring in Torts, you'll see how these Prima Donna grow balls

It annoyed me on so many levels and still does. Then the explanation of the trade came across as arrogant. Trade for the sake of making one and letting everyone know how smart you are.

3rd line C dilemma was literally solved, acquire superior player only to lose him in favour of protecting worse players. Insanity.

i would have had McCann up on the top line. He is a finisher

Kyle Dubas.

If I was the coach I would make Marner spend his off day watching tape on players like Brad Marchand who make half as much money as he does and vastly outperform and outwork him every time they hit the ice.

they should make good use of MLSE video department and when showing tapes of other players like marchand etc... make video depoartment digitally put AAV on top of players in the video so they understand how f***ing lucky they are that they got paid big money without ever having to put in a lot of work.

They're quite far down on my list of complaints so far this season.
How can that be, don’t you know that Engvall, Kerfoot and other depth players are supposed to make our 10mil plus boys look good. Just like in the playoffs, if only Engvall and others got a goal or two, the Leafs would have advanced, can’t fault AM and MM bc they combined with ONE goal.

I didn't expect a win tonight, as much because the Canes are really good, especially at home, so nothing really surprised me. Not brutal, they had their moments, but not much inspiration either.

Wednesday now becomes another test for this group. Should the Leafs come home empty from this mini road trip without a win, if this GM was anyone besides Dubas I'd expect Keefe to be fired as soon as they return to the city.

Assuming that doesn't happen I'll be curious what the attendance is Sat. against the Wings. There's nothing more convincing to MSLE that something has to change than empty seats and a disinterested fanbase. At that point, I'd guess everyone's job is at risk.

Personally, I love that people still have your grandpa mentality to analytics. It makes people who gamble a lot more money long term. So pls from a gambler perspective, keep it up!!

Only this fan base would be this mad that a team lost on the road to an undefeated elite team. But then again this fan bases average age is 55 so I mean
Please share your wisdom with us.

Yeah, but how does a team like Carolina consistently ice a good, hardworking team with good top-end players, good depth, and no cap crunch?

They have a strong team culture and nobody makes double digits, never mind 3 different guys.

Anyone else hoping for a loss against Chicago to see some changes anywhere in the team?

I would celebrate like we won the Cup if we trade Marner. I am tired of seeing that guy in a Leafs jersey. I dislike most of the players on this team right now but for me he's the embodiment of everything wrong with this team.
