Where's the poster's who said we weren't contenders??? Did they crawl back into their holes?

I'm sure they're still here. And they'll still tell you that we're the weakest of the remaining teams, that our PP and offense are too inconsistent to win it, that our stars aren't good enough, etc. And some of the points they make, in a vacuum, are valid...BUT! But we're in the final four, and if that doesn't make you a contender, then, well, I don't know what to say.

ECF the two of three years. The team has faults, for sure, but it is what it is. We're a really good hockey team, and we have been for a few years. Everyone like to crap of certain players and various facets of the team, but I think the results speak for themselves.

Chosen - you were ohhh so close to predicting that game-winning goal, although when Boyle scored that first goal, you're thinking it's a winning playoff game if he scores!

So should we have kept it open at risk of letting up breakaways, 2 on 1's and 3 on 1's? Then you would kill AV for not having a good defensive gameplan.

There is a middle ground.

AV ensured that the entire third period was at one end of the ice.

Is there a way to find out how many faceoffs were at each end?

I've said it before. Boyle is a great guy to have in the playoffs. He elevates just like Stemmer used to.

I know people are not gonna believe me but I also had a dream that Boyle scored Monday night. Never dream about the NYR.

Of course, Nash had a hatty as well. But minor details.

Lost in the celebration is how much this place would be ripping AV today if Hank didn't play like that. The team was horrible after the second goal and the strategy was asinine.

Ordinary goaltending and we are furious right about now.

I fully agree. The team went on its heels after goal 1. Picked up the pace a bit(but the momentum shifted over to the Pens) while it was tied and then back on their heels when they were up 2-1. Hank saved the team, but he he faced way more quality chances then I would like him to. Lundvquist has been godly the past 3 games, but that is his job being a top level goalie and sometimes the team needs to cash in on that.

I never assumed the team would win this one. They have to be tired. They played a record number of games for a modern team in a span of a week last week. Im extremely happy that there is no way the NHL will screw them out of having off today and tomorrow(like every other series has had scheduled to them). I think the team was tired and running on emotion/heart and will have a lot better level of play with these few days off.

The thing those people can never understand though is that every team in this league has faults. Out of the 4 major sports, the NHL has the most parity by far. There are no perfect teams in this league.

Those people point to our flaws and consistently overlook the good points. "We shouldn't trade draft picks because we don't have a true #1 center and we're not elite." OK, Pittsburgh had two #1 centers and we just beat them because they have no depth, no defense and no goaltending.

"We should stock draft picks so that we can get bigger and stronger and be like the Blues in a couple of years." OK, the Blues completely collapsed the last 2 months of the season.

OK, fine we have no elite center. But we have three lines that can maintain puck possession in the offensive zone. We have arguably (now that Staal is back in full form) the best group of defensemen in the NHL. We have the best goaltender in the NHL.

rewatched the last period just before and its way better watching it without your heart pounding and your hands shaking

but seriously, Henrik is unbelievable. i really don't know what else to say. i've always been proud of those signature Hank performances, but that...that was something else.

hope the boys are enjoying their little rest. back at it Friday/Saturday

The voting was screwed. Only one choice was allowed. I took Lundqvist, though I also would have voted Boyle and Staal.

Quite frankly, Boyle played great but it's all Hank last night.

That said, like a dummy I picked Boyle not realizing the one vote thing, so if Hank loses the star of the game by one vote it's all my fault. Sorry guys

That's really what it comes down to. There's no team that is without faults, be it questionable depth, mediocre special teams, unproven goaltending, etc. Boston might be the closest to a "complete" team in the league. Can we beat Boston 4 out of 7? We're certainly not going to go in as favorites, but it's definitely possible and far more unlikely things happen every year.

bettman was just on boomer and carton and said game 1 will be saturday afternoon, wasnt 100% sure on time but said probably 1pm. eastern conference finals should all be prime time games, i hate afternoon playoff games.

A great goalie can cover up a lot of flaws, as was quite evident yesterday. The good news is that a hot goalie can take you over the top when a winning or losing a series could come down to a single random bounce of the puck.

The rest is going to be great for this team. Nash needs to fix his head, he's a mess out there and that is a problem but McD has been much better of late and Kreider literally came back and saved the season, along with Hank.

All is not lost. The Bruins are beatable, as are the Canadians.

Game 5 was a day trip down into the middle of Pennsylvania for my son's graduation from college. I hadn't heard anything about St. Louis and there was a bit of **** for us to do. We got back to our room finally--turned on the TV and it was late in the first period and the Rangers were ahead 2-0. I was very pleasantly surprised because I thought it was stick a fork in us time. Followed this team since the early 70's and we've never ever made a comeback like this in a playoff series since I've been a fan.

You've never seen a comeback like this before because its never happened.

Rangers have never come back from down 3-1.

If Nash contributes anything offensively I think we win the next round. I think the rest of the guys are all playing well enough to get us there.

Could they have tried to keep the puck in the Pens end more, sure, but when a team is down in the third of an elimination game, they are going to send 4 or all 5 guys forward as well as hang a player or two at the blue line, so you can't just play your normal game. You have to rely on a counter attack to seal the game, the Rangers had that, St. Louis missed a wide open net in the third on a 2 on 1 with Stepan, which would have sealed the game, Boyle had a 3 on 1 which I don't think he realized and then tripped and fell, although while he was on the ice made a nice pass across which Fleury made a good save.
