Um because they will be rushing to get away from the game as soon as they can, they will be pimping the race during the game at every opportunity and god forbid there is more than one OT they will be shunting the game off to NBCSN or CNBC.

Um, so what.

They can't leave the game until it's over. You're worried about more Preakness commercials and less Geico commercials?

True. But I also thought rolling 4 lines with extremely short shifts was an excellent strategy in the 3rd. They didn't push the pace offensively, but they also didn't look tired at any point during the Pens onslaught.

It was. People complain about how they didn't attack and how they sat back, but there really isn't much you can do offensively when your coach is preaching 20-25 second shifts except score on the rush. Forecheck just isn't going to happen under that scenario.

So it was a risk and one that paid off. If the Rangers had given up a couple of 3rd period goal or lost in OT, you would have been able to point to it being a risk and a failure. That's just the way it goes.

speaking as someone who was too young to fully experience '94, this has been one of the greatest victories I've witnessed being a Rangers fan. I'm on cloud-9 right now and lets just hope there's more to come.

It's a beautiful thing watching this franchise achieve success because lord knows us Ranger fans have been paying our dues for quite some time now.

Also would like to add that I broke up with my girlfriend today and got punched in the face in the process and all I could think about is this Ranger win and I've never been happier lol.

breakups are hard. sorry man :(

LGR!

49 years a Ranger fan, very proud of my son working for the Rangers, this is one of my proudest days as a Ranger fan in my life, didn't panic, never quit:
1) Hank was awesome
2) Rolling 4 lines and 3 D pairs has made this team fresher and more dangerous
3) 3 key players added from the past year Pou, Klein and Dom Moore have made a huge impact with playing 4 effectrive lines and 3 d pairs
4) Team speed especially with Kreider back
5) Resurgence of McD
LGR!!!

Preach! Klein has been rock solid for us. He gets hate when people can't blame Lundqvist for anything :sarcasm:

(should mention that Anton Stralman is also tied for the league lead at +7)

Klein has been a rock. That trade has worked out extremely well so far.

I'm sure they're still here. And they'll still tell you that we're the weakest of the remaining teams, that our PP and offense are too inconsistent to win it, that our stars aren't good enough, etc. And some of the points they make, in a vacuum, are valid...BUT! But we're in the final four, and if that doesn't make you a contender, then, well, I don't know what to say.

The team has gone to the conference finals despite Nash not producing and the PP being terrible for the most part. So two major expected contributors to the team having success haven't been working, and they've still moved on. I'd say that would underline how wrong people would be to say the team has no potential, not make their point for them. I say that as someone who didn't expect the Rangers to go deep before the playoffs started.

I understand AV's short shift strategy given the number of games played in however many days. It worked.

That being said, since we'll be the more rested team come game 1 against either MTL or BOS, I'd like to see him give a longer leash to guys as far as shift times, especially the Nash line. It's extremely difficult to generate offense consistently when you're on the ice for 40 seconds at a time. The problem is amplified if we're losing faceoffs *cough Stepan* and have to chase to get the puck back, which leads us to simply getting to the red line and dumping/changing

Should say something about Brian Boyle here--our resident Boston Irishman. First goal of the game--won 4 of 6 face-offs--5 hits--4 blocked shots--all of that last night. He's always played well in the playoffs but that might have been his best playoff game ever.

pro hockey is not meant to be played in the afternoon

you start off playing hockey fighting for rink time at 5 am and eventually make your way to prime time. Big games played in the afternoon are an insult to the sport

This is too silly to not be funny.

If it bothers you, you have the option to not watch. Show your disdain.

The players HATE afternoon games, so it's not really silly.

A large majority of games during the season are played in the evening, and players have specific routines/schedules that have to be altered in order to fit Bettman's agenda of wanting a larger (non-hockey fan) audience to see the game.

This is the fourth time in my life that the Rangers made the conference finals (I'll exclude 1985-86 since I was born half way through the season). I'm so pumped for this.

Seeing the somber faces of the 'people' of that crap city after this win was exhilarating.

May I say this again?

If the playoffs were in February/March, I'd understand the afternoon starts.

But in May, the weather is just starting to get nice and people want to go out and do stuff. My wife is going to want to strangle me when Im predisposed from 1-4pm on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

...Oh well.

Well, I won't be watching--I'll be at my stepson's soccer game. 1 PM start times are often incredibly inconvenient, for fans and players alike. I've never heard one thing from a player regarding afternoon games other than "They suck."

It's not silly, early hockey is for Bantam & Peewee, the NHL is supposed to be the main show not some afternoon recreational side event. And yeah like others I probably won't be able to watch it, Tivo for me

DAMN!

Was hoping for a Friday night Game 1. Wtf with this scheduling? Horrendous. Gonna have to wake up early now to do landscaping on Saturday, or push it to Sunday after golf. Sucks. These afternoon games kill the weekend. **** the NHL.

3 days rest is too much! lol Actually that is great. But why does Mtl/Bos get 2 days rest when the Rangers got 1 last series. Ah whatever, ****ing NHL.

If the Rangers played night games and the rest played day games it would matter. I doubt any of them are annoyed about being in this position and having to play a day game.

Are NFL players angry when they play Monday night?

The Rangers are ecstatic to be playing at all.

Watched this game last night, Lundqvist is a MONSTER. I WISH we could mesh Hiller and Freddy into a modecum of what Lundqvist is. Great game to watch.

I usually play golf on Saturday. Happy to skip this one.

Well, the Preakness is on Saturday so god forbid our game goes into OT and interferes with their pregame coverage. Not sure why the league would put themselves in a scenario for this to happen again - they caught some slack back in 2007 for bumping Buffalo-Ott to Versus when their game went to OT before the Preakness.

I actually look at this as a positive. If I have to hear those dorks say frog protection once more time, i'm going to lose my f***ing mind.
