Congrats to the Rangers team, organization, and fan base.

Full disclosure; I thought those guys were DOA after game 4. The three games that followed were about as impressive a run I've seen in a while, not necessarily because of the skill on your team (and there certainly was) but because of the fight.

It's overused and beyond cliche, but I'm not sure how else to say it without referring to it...heart and character.

Would be an honor to see the Bruins face this Ranger team in an ECF should it unfold as I hope it does....but regardless, great series from your guys.

so, I woke up and was still excited about this. Being a fan only since the 2005-06 season, this, along with the Gabby 3OT winner and Richards tying it with 6 seconds to go in game 5, is easily the most joyous moment I've had watching this team. So thanks for that.

Anyway, it need not be pointed out even more in this thread, but holy ****, what an absolute steal by Lundqvist. That 4 save sequence was nothing short of insane. How he kept tracking the puck is beyond me, his postion play is second to none all time. I mean it.

As for the game overall, I wasn't happy with the sitting back strategy. I mean, I can see the reason for it, but I was close to a heartattack multiple times last night. Let's not sugarcoat it, the Pens dominated us for much of the game. Despite the 2 on 1s and the 2 posts, we need to do a better job in the neutral zone, imo. The last 2 minutes on the other hand - the Nash EN miss aside - were a thing of beauty, especially defensively. They have - iirc - Malkin, Crosby, Neal, Kunitz, Jokinen and Letang on the ice and fail to create a single good scoring chance. Just great work by the whole team defensively there.

Also, was there ever a more timely powerplay than the one that gave us the GWG. A major thank you to Niskanen for taking a stupid penalty. The Pens looked ready to get on a roll after that tying goal. The crowd was buing into it. Then Richards comes up big. Timely goals and a little bit of luck - if you get these things constantly, your outlook is fine.

I also can't say enough about how great of a job Staal has done against Malkin all series, Malkins roll-through-the-defense-goal aside, where I thought it was some miscomunication with Girardi. You also gotta give Malkin credit there - when he's on, he's the best player in the world. Moore did an equally great job of getting into Crosby's head. I like the kind of nastiness he's shown this series. Constanty yelling at Sid, a little jab here and there to throw him off his game.

Looking forward to the next series. IIRC, when we played the Devils 2 years ago, there was this stat, that no team in NHL history that went to 7 games in the first 2 rounds has ever advanced to the SCF. Time to make some more history. LFGFR!

I don't, but it was honestly kind of depressing. He was very down in a way that kind of made me feel bad for him.
I don't. Most overrated coach in the league, and shouldn't have been allowed anywhere near team usA.c

Big win last night, but it was hard for me to get excited because I was crazy busy at work and had to listen on the radio.

Great comeback though, really amazing,I didn't think they could do it.

Richards and Stepan bouncing like flubber, Brassards reaction, the Zuccarello facewash. There's just too much awesomeness going on here.

And that right there, sums up team sports, that final few seconds between victory and having to do all the hard work all over again, and knowing the guy beside you in the trenches is thinking the exact same thing as you.

The MSL storyline has been the biggest one over the last three games. And, while I didn't want to bring this up until after Game 7, there is sort of a karmic justice that it has occurred against the Penguins. The old timers will remember that in the off-season prior to the 1991-2 season, Bob Johnson, who had coached the Penguins to the Cup that previous year, had lost his battle to cancer. Well, that franchise made sure to drag out his corpse out 'as inspiration' during the series against the Rangers, to the point that they had (I believe) Johnson's daughter since the National Anthem before game 6. The Rangrrs were cast as the villains, especially after the Graves-Lemieux incident. Just one more reason for savoring last night's victory.

The Eastern Conference finals. After the start we had to this season, it's hard to believe.

I never thought the Rangers would ever beat Pittsburgh in a playoff series. Something always happened when the Rangers played Pittsburgh. They would play that Lets Go Pens song at the game. The Rangers had only led Pittsburgh once in a playoff series. The Rangers were up 2-1 in the 1992 playoffs. When the Rangers won game one, that was the 2nd time they led a series. Poetic justice for the Rangers to make Pittsburgh the first team they came back on trailing 3-1 in a series. The Rangers always crumbled when they trailed 3-1 in a series.

Game 5 was a day trip down into the middle of Pennsylvania for my son's graduation from college. I hadn't heard anything about St. Louis and there was a bit of **** for us to do. We got back to our room finally--turned on the TV and it was late in the first period and the Rangers were ahead 2-0. I was very pleasantly surprised because I thought it was stick a fork in us time. Followed this team since the early 70's and we've never ever made a comeback like this in a playoff series since I've been a fan.

Have to admit, I wrote this team off after game 4, not because the organization was bad but because the NHL tried to handicap us with 5 games in 7 nights and it was working. But this team fought through it and as Rangers fans we should be proud of the way they have gotten through the first 2 rounds.
Lets keep the dream going!

Lost in the celebration is how much this place would be ripping AV today if Hank didn't play like that. The team was horrible after the second goal and the strategy was asinine.

Ordinary goaltending and we are furious right about now.

Rangers have won a lot of games this way though in the last several years. A team on the verge of elimination almost always comes with everything in the final period. The thing is to make them fight for each and every inch and try to counterpunch them and the Rangers had several odd man rushes in the last period that they just screwed the pooch on.

Setting aside that it was a playoff game 7 it was a fairly typical Rangers type game against a better offensive team.

I know i am late to this Epic PGT thread but i was an emotional mess after the game. After the buzzer i went straight to the shower and fell asleep on the shower floor. The last half of the 3rd period was probably the worst i ever felt since i became a fan 2009. I was litterary physically ill during these 9-10 minutes, couldnt breath, had chest pains and was drenched in sweat. I remember looking at the game clock and every second felt like a minute. I kid you not, had the game gone to OT i would have passed out.

This game aged me at least 10 years and you know what, I DONT GIVE A ****!! I am so ****ing proud of this team. The work ethic and camaraderie shown these past 3 games is truly beatiful. To me these guys are all Winners whatever happens next. I am actually Crying tears of joy writing this and recalling the events that unfold early wednesday morning on my tv here in Stockholm. What made all of this even greater is that May 13th is my birthday and i honestly couldnt have asked for a better present.

A lot has been written about Hank and his god like performance but to me that that was a given. Win or lose game 7 i was Confident that Hank would do his part. I truly hope that Hank has once and for all silenced the bashers among us. Dont get me wrong, no one is above criticizm and ultimately you root for the name on the front of the jersey but the Hank "hate" on these boards went extremely far, way beyond the Point of justified criticizm. But enough of this, its time for us to come together as a band of Brothers and support the team that we love and i will promise that this summer brings even more joy

One last thing; what about THAT ****ING 4TH LINE!!! GOAT :yo:

Ranger fans: I just want to let you know that your destiny is to at least make it to the finals. Every team that has knocked the Flyers out of the playoffs since 2008 either won the cup or at least played in the SCF.

2008 - Pittsburgh: lost in the finals
2009 - Pittsburgh: won the cup
2010 - Chicago: won the cup
2011 - Boston: won the cup
2012 - New Jersey: lost in the finals
2013 - No playoffs :(
2014 - Rangers: ????

It's up to you guys to keep the trend going.

It's game 7, in the opposing team's building, with one of the best teams in the league, with about as much desperation as a team could have.

Wouldn't have been that mad, especially given the previous circumstances.

AV killed Bylsma in coaching, I respectfully disagree with your assertion.

Chosen - I wasn't happy with sitting back, which is a strategy that very rarely works. Lundqvist was great. The shot blocking in front was pretty good also. Great win for the Rangers. Haven't seen a win like this one in a long time.

jas - I remember '92 - a young Gravy with the slash. Can't say it could not have been on any better person!

The best part about the win is the Rangers go into the next series healthy, will be somewhat rested, and with a ton of confidence.

So should we have kept it open at risk of letting up breakaways, 2 on 1's and 3 on 1's? Then you would kill AV for not having a good defensive gameplan.
