Post-Game Talk: We Blew a 3-0 Lead in the Third Period to the Oilers

These players played in a different era. Messier coaching would be the same as Gallant IMO. What modern day coaching has he experienced?

We need someone that understands modern day hockey, X's and O's and/or someone that has experience implementing structure.

It either stays with Gallant or it's Trotz. Quennville is the wild card but it's HIGHLY doubtful

Mess spent 15 mins coaching Team Canada to 2nd and 3rd place finishes at crappy tournaments, in what was a completely unremarkable coaching tenure, 12 years ago; he's clearly the exact guy we need.

Never mind that he's never expressed a desire to coach (he did want to be GM after Slats) and never mind that his last involvement with the NHL playoffs was in 1997...

What the hell is that???
Is this the reason why we won the cup in 94, Mike “ New Coach Energy “ Keenan. Lol
I think it means, that when a new coach comes in after replacing a previous coach that lost the room, it is a breath of fresh air initially to the players and they try to buy in to what the coach is saying and doing. But after awhile it gets stale and the coach isn't able to adapt to other teams figuring out what he is doing, then he also loses the locker room eventually. It happens a lot. You see a new coach come to a team and they immediately look better, but after a year or 2 they regress back to what they were. This is what separates an average coach from a good one. A good one can adapt and make it hard for the other coach to come up with plans on how to stop you.

So we need a coach that’ll scare our team into playing better? 😂

Does Gary Coleman look scared here? Even with Mess’s nuts on display?

I think that's exactly what I need at this point lol

Yeah but we were good in that run!

Zuccs and Hayes were traded in 2019.

Grabner was a victim of the expansion draft.

So the only players of note that were traded were McD, Miller, and Brassard.
It was all part of the same rebuild though. The plan from 2017 onwards was to trade all of them. And there are multiple reasons why you don't trade everyone all at once during a rebuild. And I'm sorry, but you're wrong about Grabner. He was traded to the Devils for Rykov and a 2nd round pick.

It will be great whenever they do replace Gallant, it will be the same issue 2 or 3 years laters if not sooner with this group. Maybe it‘s the lack of tougher players that don’t fold under pressure. And people wanted Mika, Kreider, Panarin captain. 🤮

Right now the problem is the veterans.
Trouba is garbage. He can be replaced with a $2-3M player. WTF was that pass and ensuing play on the Holloway goal?
Panarin, Zib and Kreider need to take the reigns and give a full effort to set the example.
People bitching about Hajek should look at Miller. Laziest f***ing penalty got the scoring started for the Oilers..
Blame Gallant all you want, but these are supposed to be professionals. Show the f*** up.

Might as well add in the preseason games as well….as long as bullshit like this are being presented
Bullshit? They started this lazy trend going into the playoffs and through most of the playoffs. With exception of the beginning of the ECF against a tired Tampa team and 2 or 3 other games they consistently took long stretches of the game off and the lack of system was easily exploited.

So if you want to defend thise team's execution or this coach's system use something other than "might as well count preseason"

This trend isn't one game. It's a systemic problem. Disagree? Make an argument.

I check the game - We're up 3-0. I check again, it's 3-3 and then I saw we were on a kill with a couple left. I was too busy almost having a heart attack watching Argentina play for their lives today. Thankfully I am still riding that high.

At this point I think some serious decisions need to be made. What worked last year sure as hell ain't working this year. I wouldn't be too hasty. Maybe after the new year if we keep shitting the bed. What's funny is while I do think Turk makes some boneheaded decisions sometimes, I also don't think he's the biggest problem. I think some of the elder statesmen of the team have gotten wayyyyyy too comfortable.

"They better have a chat with them"

wtf is he even talking about? Does he... NOT talk to his players??

Quinn 2.0

ah yes... this strong leadership group..

We need the coach to be the leader, unfortunately.

You set an arbitrary timeframe to quote a record over two seasons with different personnel. Everyone is frustrated…

maybe you can also give us their record for the same timeframe on Saturdays when the games start at 7:30 or later….I bet that has the same relevance

How do you explain a third like that ?
How can they not play any kind of defense ?
I feel personally owed an explanation.
