Jesus. You should have a higher standard for comments that you run with. Whoever came up with that one went Full Rossi Brainfart. ;)

There is almost zero chance Shattenkirk or Petro are available now or anytime soon. They are the Blues' version of Keith and Seabrook. They are the core of that defense, period. Unless STL goes all Sweeny on us, they ain't going anywhere.

I hope we still have a shot at our version of the above after July 1.

I hope they don't include Sutter in the deal to Toronto. They can get value for him separately. If we're signing Frolik, then just shop him for a prospect. But if the Leafs will give up value for him, fair enough.

Send Kunitz anywhere he'll go to. I'm sure a team would take him for free. Hopefully a 3rd. And just include Scuds in the Kessel deal. Cap problems over.

I don't think whether the Leafs want Sutter or Kunitz is any sort of deal-breaker. I don't mind including both if they want both. The more players Toronto wants/is willing to take among Kunitz, Dupuis, Scuderi, Sutter, Spaling and Lovejoy, the better as far as I'm concerned. My preference would be that none of these six are Penguins when training camp rolls around.

I still believe that once we can finalize a Kessel trade, then we can maybe look towards Montreal. I think Sutter, Kunitz, Spaling and maybe even Dupuis are players they would have some interest in. The Habs want character players and two-way forwards work much better under Therrien. SO perhaps there is a deal to be had there.

I don't know why Brad Marchand is so wanted on this board. His effectiveness on a uber-soff team like ours would never end well. He's been absolutely blessed to be on a team with the likes of Shawn Thornton, Milan Lucic and especially Zdeno Chara in Boston. Now two of those guys are gone. His effectiveness is waning as a result.

Downie worked because he fights his own battles, can handle himself pretty well and is generally nuts (which creates some separation and space for himself). Marchand is none of that.

Besides, we're small enough as is.

Pass on Eriksson. Not what we need. Marchand? Yes.

I understand, but here's the but I was thinking.

Your gm wants a top6 winger right? and he wants Kessel but if they can't fo it then who are left?

Oshie, I'd personally rather take Eriksson, brings more on the table.
sign UFA, they are going to get overpaid badly and UFA market is weak,
Beleskey's career high is 32 points and he will have a bigger cap hit than Eriksson, again Lou brings more on the table too,
Williams, too old and will get a expensive contract,
Frolik will get a expensive contract for what he brings on the table.

So Lou is signed for 1year with 4.25M, he does everything and does everything so damm well and next year Id say he is a 55-60point impressive 2way winger, great pk killer and player you use when defending a lead or chasing a lead, who knows what his points would be in Pittsburgh. With him you know you get an honest top6 guy who will win you games in one way or another.

So if Kessell trade won't work then I'd go after Eriksson, UFA market is weak and they will get too much money for what they bring on the table.

That's just my way of looking your situation.

Kunitz to Boston for Pastrnak?

Anything can happen, but if I was your gm I'd be calling Boston

We're all getting our hopes up way too much with Kessel. When do nice things ever happen with us and wingers?

I was saying that Eriksson is a really good winger, was our best winger and Dallas Lou made a return in the 2nd half, you add him and his 4.2M cap hit into that top6 and you have a good thing going, won't eat a lot of assets, meaning Pouliot+Maatta would still be Pens.

He was just beautiful player to watch, does everything for you and is damm impressive defensively, high IQ/Passing, scored some big goals in the 2nd half and rarely makes a mistake.

Sweeney is going crazy so I guess they price would be cheap.

All depends on the price. But if it's reasonable, then yes absolutely interested.

I would love to have Talbot back. The earlier picture that included
Talbot jersey was like a wet dream!

Am I the only one who cringes at the idea of Talbot back solely because of the Pens constantly bringing back old Pens to our detriment and wanting on principle for them to break with that modus operandi?
