Hextal has a lot more important things to do (like icing a quality hockey team) than screwing over the Pens whenever he gets the chance. The tin foil hats are coming out to justify the Flyers going after Kessel.

It's perfectly logical for a team to attempt to prevent another in the same division from improving themselves to the extent the pens could with kessel because of the new playoff format forcing you to beat two divisional teams before making the conference finals.

It's probably just a baseless twitter rumor, but it makes more sense than you're rant entails, whether it makes sense for their own roster is a different discussion.

Because Kessel isn't at all needed in Philly. They're rebuilding right now and they need an upgrade on D (and to let their great D prospect pool develop). Kessel doesn't fit where they're at right now. A 23 year old left wing Kessel would, but not Kessel now.

The Flyers don't do rebuilding.
