We replaced our mattress - the old one was about 20 years old. We put it off because we actually had bought a new one several years ago but it ended up in the spare room because it hurt our backs more than the old one. My neck and shoulder hurt for months after, so I was very reluctant to do it again.

Hubby put the old one out front for large pickup garbage day on a rainy day this week, so it was damp as well. A guy stopped and asked what was wrong with it - hubby told him that it was old, torn in one spot and was hurting our backs because it was sagging. He said he needed a new one because his back was hurting, asked if he could have it. Hubby talked him out of it but seriously, I realize money can be tight but..... Also, it had been in our garage for a few weeks, probably full of mice...lmao!

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode with the chair!
I seriously need to replace my mattress but my hatred of mattress shopping is second only to my hatred of car shopping.

Plus now that I have a car payment I can't really be spending another $1k or whatever ridiculous amount a decent mattress/box springs costs these days

Well, yes, now that I have a car that has a functioning heater and will properly defrost my windshield and my rear window..... bring it on!!

Also I am really loving the heated steering wheel. An unexpected bonus with this car.

There's a local Facebook group that helps people find lost pets in the area. It's helped a lot of people, but so help me, if I read one more post about a "skiddish" dog that "wondered" off, the part of my brain that remembers I minored in English is going to explode.

Your skittish dog wandered off!!!!

Thus ends Bruinaura's PSA for the day lol

Posters I like and respect but would ask the mods to delete posts speculating of the rainbow bridge explosion, especially regarding terrorism.
I don't think we need to push that into the ether.

Delete my post as well if needed. But rampant speculation proven wrong shouldn't be left up.
One post when it was happening isn't pushing any agenda or pushing anything into the ether, imo. I was on twitter when it happened. And everyone was speculating. Lots of reporters were thinking it because we are currently and have been on high alert in this country because of world events around us.

We are lucky it wasn't terrorism. We, the public still have no idea what happened. But I feel for the victims of the crash.

I found some of those "terrorism" posts politically and culturally biased. I also notice how people slip in their religious preferences without regard that they may be offensive to others.

Bear crashes BBQ, eating 10 burgers

No kidding. This has happened at my family cottage multiple times. You'd be BBQing, go inside for a second and find a black bear eating everything when you came back out.

Worst was when they'd get drunk on fermented apples and start stumbling because you didn't know. I've been woken up by black bears during afternoon naps/reading...

Even late last spring a black bear went for the hummingbird feeder, broke the window in the process and stuck its head inside.

There are people of faith here on this board. There are people who aren't of faith. There are atheists. There are agnostics. A board of this many will include people of all walks of life. Religious. Politics. Personal beliefs. This is a very diverse board.

In my opinion. If someone is talking about their religion, that shouldn't offend you. Just like someone talking about not being religious shouldn't bother you. We use the term "offensive" too loosely. If nobody is forcing religion on you or using it on here in a certain way, I think we're all adults, we can handle it. Plus. There are site rules we agree to when signing up. Certain things we can't speak or talk about. As long as everyone abides by them and respects everyone, you should be good.

I'm not directing this towards any individual . Just in general mentioning political or religious affiliation can be troublesome on a board such as this.

I agree for the most part. However we aren't allowed to talk politics on here as per the rules. And the Mods usually handle it if anything goes off the rails.

As for religious affiliation? I've been on here for over a decade. Lurked for longer. I haven't seen a post regarding ones religion or lack there of be a problem on here. I havent seen anyone attack another for being religious or lack there of. Now, I could be wrong, and if I am, feel free to tell me. But I think for the most part nobody cares what you believe when we all have one common goal: Bruins.

Great post.

I found it in poor taste when that type of speculation was put forth with no facts behind it. Using that tragedy as a soapbox to stand on to interject their own personal politics was also bad form.

It’s interesting to see certain people want to “wait for the facts” when it came to 1 recent incident but were ready to push theories for Rainbow Bridge.

Well pulled out the snowblower. Started her up. As much as I hate preparing. Good mild day to do it.
I held a shovel for a solid 5 minutes last winter, and I was just being overly cautious about it. Could've let it sit and wash away.

Hoping for a repeat this winter, but for the sake of a better ski season I'd like our northern neighbors to get wrecked.

My daughter made it to Boston for Thanksgiving. Apparently the family she is staying with, her friend, are in Westwood. I have no idea but sounds nice enough.
Very nice town!!

Since I lost both of my parents over the last two years, the Bruins losing games doesn't bother me nearly as much. I guess it put everything in perspective. I still have emotional highs and lows but it is now very brief. More to life.

Right now, I am listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan and enjoying a glass of wine. The Bruins lost, not the end of the world. I hope I see another Cup win in my lifetime.
Very sorry to hear this. My condolences. It takes years to move beyond the grief, so don't let anyone tell you to "move past it" etc because we're all complex individuals who mourn our own way, in our own time. God Bless!
