On the Kolesar major on Ekholm, I think the major was deserved but, sigh. I just don't like it when players do what Ekholm did in the defensive position. Why not just bounce against the boards after sending the puck away? Protects you against the dirty hits and makes it faster to change direction than braking in that manner, anyway.

The stupid call on Broberg and the fluke high stick in the second period definitely ruined what was a good game up until then but the Oilers had a long powerplay and the whole third period to come back. They couldn't get it done.

Is the defense the reason Skinner can't pull off even a mediocre .900 SV%? Last night he was .814 SV% which is absolutely pitiful. It's unprofessional. If he starts the next game and shits the bed like usual I want Woodcroft fired.

I think the Oilers got a bit too comfortable with the lead. They treated 5-on-5 as a waiting game whilst up 2-1. Lots of cycling, safe plays, but little urgency to take the puck to the net. That can be hard to reverse once chasing to get back into the game. I think there's ability in the team to do much more with some killer instinct. There's no reason for the lower lines to play keep away until they can't any more, instead of taking the puck to the net more regularly.
The game could have gone either way, unlike the other four. That the Oilers have put themselves in a situation where they now have no margin for error is their own making. It's not over, but it's tough when you've expended your chances for unlucky bounces, which will happen over time, and now have to rely on both outplaying AND outluck-ing the opponent in the final game(s).

Skinner has been atrocious. Not like lack of focus bad, or poor positioning bad. He literally looks like a college level goalie trying to keep up with the NHL pace and he just doesn't have the skills for it.
