I missed the first period last night but from what I did see I got the impression that the officials seemed to be somewhat ticky tacky in their calling of the game. I also got the impression that they were leaning a bit towards penalizing Vegas a bit harsher, at least when the game still mattered.

If it were called the other way I would be annoyed, as an Oilers fan. Obviously I'm glad we won the game but I'd be a hypocrite and dishonest if I didn't at least acknowledge the effect of the reffing.

Here's hoping that game 3 officials have less of an impact. It always feels a little gross when the refs stick their fingers that far into a game, regardless of who wins.

Just out of curiosity, which Vegas calls did you think we're ticky-tacky?

The delay of game for knocking the net off the moorings stopping the Oilers from scoring 5on5?

The high stick?

The failed goaltender interference challenge?

The two handed slash that broke Stones own stick over Bjugstad?

Eichel losing his man in Foegele and holding / tackling him to take away a sure 5 on 5 goal?

The unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for failing to leave the game and trying to play a shift after getting assessed a game misconduct penalty?

True shit to be honest. I was in the nosebleeds wondering why the hell they were challenging.

I thought Sportsnet missed something and there was like an offside or something because I just figured there was no way someone would challenge GI there.

Idk, I guess you can argue it's a hail mary that maybe gives you life I guess.

But I think it's a poor move, risk reward ratio way too high for me, and I think it also sends a message to your team that you don't believe in them. I'd prefer my coach stays calm there, maybe calls a time out. Just tells the guys to buckle up and play better. If you have some patience and stick to the process, lots of clock left to get some bounces. That says your team thinks you think you can win. Throwing a desperate gamble with 5 minutes left in the first means you don't think you can win without luck, IMO. Not a great mentality to have.

Maybe that's just me though.

We are 2-0 when hangman sleeps through the game, and 0-1 when he doesn't. Well I know what I must do.

My younger brother has never seen the Oilers win live at Rogers Place.

He was there with me for Game 1 vs LA. He was there last night. Then he tells our group chat that he's thinking of going Wednesday?!?

On a side note, I really like the Vegas fans on this board. You guys have been pretty classy and not trolly.

I sent him some strongly worded texts blaming him for the loss last night hahahaha

I want the Oilers to win the cup. I feel like they have a good shot this year. That said, Vegas is a hella good team and yeah, you guys have been pretty classy on here.

Kid in my homeroom he wears his Mark Stone jersey every day. Although I question the hygiene of it all, I gotta give him kudos for cheering for the team from the get go. It's fun to see that.

Well I was a flames fan before Vegas came along, so I want the world to end before the oilers lift the cup.... that said, If you guys score the cup winning goal on a goalie goal, I'll allow it.

That was a pretty lousy effort by the Oilers for game 3 in round 2 but they have been great at rebounding after bad games. Hopefully they have not gone to that well too many times in these playoffs. At some point a team has to win games when they are in a situation to take over a series and not wait until their backs are against the wall to play well. This series is going back and forth, who knows what the next game will bring.

Can't understand why Woodcroft has kept Drai/McD primarily together. Against Vegas, they should've been split to go with a deeper approach to start.

Vegas can focus their efforts by sending out one of their top lines + Pietrangelo against McD/Drai, hoping to break-even against them. Then the rest of their lineup just runs over the rest of the Oilers. Same thing as G1.

Woodcroft is in a tough position with Bouchard. He's part of their power play, which is the only method the Oilers have to score. On the other hand, he's nowhere close to being good enough in his own zone to belong in an NHL lineup, and he disgraced the franchise with his completely unacceptable performance last game. Does Woodcroft have what it takes to hold that useless pylon accountable and put him in the press box where he belongs, or does he continue enabling a culture where playing like trash in the defensive zone is tolerated?

Have you looked at what our other options are? We really can't afford to take anyone out of the lineup on defense.

Sure, so stalwart Desharnais can play in the top-four lmao.

Like any team is benching the 4th highest scorer in the playoffs. Come join us in reality some time.

Do you actually think that his offense makes up for his complete inability to even approach a minimum standard of play in his own zone to not be a complete liability out there? Do you think it's a good idea to send the message that the way he plays is acceptable? Bouchard would struggle to make a good AHL lineup unless he chose to learn how to actually play his position. He's costing the team right now and has very little chance of ever belonging in the NHL.
