After watching the Seattle v Dallas game... forward depth seemed crucial, the bottom 6 on Vegas is more trustworthy than Edmonton's guys. I think the LA Kings weren't able to expose Bjugstad, Ryan, Yamamoto..

The Knights have big bodies and finesse players as spare parts like Carrier, Kessel, Barbashev, and Kolesar. Meanwhile Edmonton will need big series from McLeod, Kostin, Foegele to win.

Woodcroft was using a short bench (7D, 11F) to keep up with the Kings. Broberg/Kostin/Ryan hardly touched the ice some games. Vegas looks more comfortable and more fresh.

McDavid and Draisaitl will either carry the series or Oilers lose is my prediction.

My guess is this will be the most entertaining, closely contested series of the first round. Should make it to 7, not sure who prevails. The Oilers finally have stable goaltending and enough D to get them over the hump, perhaps?

Oilers are always gonna ride their top 6 heavy, and why wouldn't they when they have arguably the best top 6 in the league. The 11/7 came due to Janmark's injury and if he's ready to go for game 1, which there's been a lot of speculation he will be, then it just adds to the Oilers bottom 6. Kostin is more than capable of taking on more ice time, and hopefully should in this series being a big physical body who can score.

Well i'm sure Edmonton players wouldn't mind an extra day in Vegas (the forecast is beautiful this week with highs in the lower to mid 70s), but what about their fans that have already arranged travel? Maybe the league needs new schedulers who can figure out what is going on before posting the game days.
Oddly enough the forecast here is in the high 80's for the next few days.

ya but they were though, that's why the games are worth points...you know, to see who's better. Plus the Oilers had the 2nd most regulation wins in the league.
It's a negligible difference at best. I'm sorry but that's one of the weakest "f***ed by the playoff format" victimizations I've seen. All the teams at this stage are extremely close in terms of level of play.

Yet another Janmark injury bites the Oilers in game 1. The guy who got moved up into his spot got owned for 3 goals.

That last 8 or so minutes from the Oilers was such completely unserious hockey. Just trying to run 'n gun hero the thing. Just dozens of brutal neutral zone turnovers. No will to just swallow the ego for a second, chip it in behind and fight it out on the forecheck to go get it.

Still think that it shows pretty clearly how Draisaitl has higher hockey IQ than McDavid.

McDavid's constantly attempting low percentage plays, which he can almost get away with due to his skill. Draisaitl isn't nearly as fast in skating or stickhandling, but his moves tend to be more efficient and effective.

I think McDavid could be much more effective if he played just a bit smarter.
