But it does
You tend to score more when you have control of the puck and are not scrambling in your own zone.
Ellerby and Muzzin and to a lesser extent RR44 tend to keep the play in the Kings end and when they get it out is is for a line change with little up the ice pressure.

Yup Offense starts from the Defense.

If you have a DVR, watch Mitchell last year.....Crisp Accurate outlet pass to get the offense started...

Very underrated about Defenders.

It's why Drew Doughty is sooooooo freakin good, His IQ and outlet pass controls games.

If your Defense is slow and can't pass....You have no offense.

Don't think I've ever seen so much negativity from a playoff WIN before.

The Blues are a notoriously hard team to score against but so are the Kings in the playoffs - especially with Quick in net.

The different in goals this series is only 4-3 as a few people have mentioned, so by no means are you getting walloped.

I saw a good, physical game from the Kings tonight, some great PK's (especially on that horrible double-minor on Doughty), and a lot of calmness when the team easily could've given way to panic.

As the Kings find their offensive/defensive stride more and more (which they sure did this game), the games will still be tight but you'll start winning them.

Good game tonight, keep the faith high!

I agree about that...but the PP is horrid and in all 3 games, I have yet to see more than 2 consecutive passes connect...no one's going to the net, rarely seen anyone create offense for themselves, except for Williams a few times. You gotta create chances for yourself or teammates and we're either a bit sloppy or the Blues are just shutting us down very quickly and effectively. (and making it look easy most of the time)

It's kinda hard to keep the faith high when the Blues are out-"Kinging" the Kings throughout extended periods during the game. Don't get me wrong, I'm hoping, preying and begging for the Kings to win the series, but it's hard to do that when the Blues have more quality scoring chances than the Kings do.

The Kings connected quite a few passes tonight on the PP and it was frustrating, but they weren't powerplays that sucked solely because of things the Kings were doing. The Blues are a very aggressive team on the PK just like the Kings. Pietrangelo in particular is a shot blocker, guy is always in the way. Then Backes, very aggressive with his stick and very big.

Quote was just released where Quick crapped all over the ice.

Quick, on whether the ice was particularly bad: "No, it’s always awful. It was awful today. We’ve got bad ice here. That’s how it goes."

The best thing is that Quick balances out those quality scoring chances :) Tonight was an absolute return to form for him (no brain farts) and the Blues should absolutely be worried.

When Quick is on his game, you guys and girls will only need to score 1-2/game.

So at the very least, have confidence in that :)

I'll be here cheering for you guys in the meantime, so I'll be around every now and then

I'm sure no ones noticed but I've given up complaining about the joke that is considered ice in Staples because I know it'll always be a ****ing slushee out there.

I'll go against the grain to say I'm very happy with the win. It's been an excellent, physical series so far.

I love how the Kings players deal with it, they are just like F^& it the ice sucks here (we deal with it , so you have too as well).

It's kind of funny.

Drew Doughty on the ice for outdoor game "Woudln't the ice be bad" ? Reporter "Yes but the ice is always bad at Staple" Doughty "Yah you're right we have terrible ice".

Kopitar is definitely hurt. He's a shell of his, well, usual self.

Good win, but I'm worried.

I think it's pretty natural to be worried. I mean if we're being honest about things, none of the teams we played in the playoffs in 2012 were as close to as good as the Blues are now. The Kings were not only the best team but a dominant great team that was never challenged that stiffly by their very good opponents. That's the reality of the situation. Cup runs are not supposed to be that easy.

This is much harder because the Blues are a team on the level of the Kings, which the Canucks/Blues/Coyotes/Devils last year were not. It's natural to be uneasy when a game goes back and forth like this, but that's what playoff hockey is supposed to be.

I'm very happy with the win but we've got a long way to go. Any win the Kings or Blues get will be in a game like this.

The giveaway-takeaway stats is the most useless stat in hockey! They have Voynov having more giveaways then Muzzin so far. Guess who leads the playoffs in Giveaways: Pietrangelo. I swear Muzzin has 1000 giveways by now!

Kings need to be more structured on the forecheck and make better first passes out of their zone. That's the biggest difference. The trademark of this team is hemming the opposition in their zone, we aren't doing that. We are a step behind and are not in their faces. It was better tonight, but not where it needs to be.

I don't completely disagree with analysts regarding passion, either. We see spurts of it, but this team is nowhere near where they were last year as far as passion and drive. It's there, but it's at a greatly reduced level. It's completely expected, and totally natural for them to do so.

Yeah, this, and the club is still waiting for Richards and Kopitar to contribute.

It amazes me how some of you guys underestimate Jonathan Quick's ability to almost single-handedly steal games, not a game, games. Not saying they're gonna win, but i'll be shocked if this doesn't go at least 6.

To be honest with you, over 60 min each game played so far Blues have been better than the Kings. If they can survive this series they will go all the way again. But I doubt it Blues are to good right now.

Williams has shown up all 3 games , Brown kinda took off tonight but was there for games #1 and #2, Penner played PLAYOFF PENNER BEAST MODE tonight :toothless (he needs to be up with Carter and Richards for Game #4, as DEREK King is at best a 4th liner, King-Fraser-Nolan should be on the 4th and should be pounding the Blues flatter than a crepe every shift they are out there.

Need more out of Stoll and Lewis, put Clifford with them and hope they can bring some secondary scoring soon.

Otherwise your not alone in thinking we need more, MUCH MORE from the likes of Kopitar, Richards and Carter, and yes even Brownie too.

I'd also like to say I think a part of why our D has looked so bad is because the support from the forwards just hasn't been there as much this year like last year either, if you watch closely they don't seem to be making themselves as available for the quick easy outlet passes like they used to, the D men are having to try and chip the pucks up off the boards and/or make longer more dangerous (turnovers) passes up the middle of the ice which we didn't see much of last year. Yes I still see some backchecking but I also see more forwards cheating atop the blueline waiting for a stretch pass, that frankly against this Blues team has NO CHANCE at connecting anyways, so they better get back to some basics again and help out their D-men more.

LASTLY ... you gotta credit the Blues though, they certainly aren't giving the Kings ANY ROOM at all to work much of anything, they look like we looked last year, defensively at least ... they still don't have as complete a team and aren't the offensive threat we were in last years Playoffs, but if they can keep it together and build off this they will be scary good and hungry for the Cup just like we were last year. :( sucks for us, but congrats to them :)

Please get Toffoli in there...we need offensive talent. King had 10 pts in 47 games.
Toffoli had 5 pts in 10 games...equates to to 24 pts in 47 games...2.5 King's total!! Both of Toffoli's goals were goal scorer's goals as well...and a late, game tying goal vs the Black Hawks.

Since DS won't do this, at least get Penner up with Richard and Carter. He would create more room for both of them.

Toffoli would probably get eaten alive on the boards in this series. I don't see him being able to provide the counterpinch needed to get the puck out of the zone until he is bigger, stronger, and more experienced.

All I can say after watching tonight's game is: its better to be lucky than be good. Blues outplayed the Kings last two periods. I don't know how the puck didn't go in a number of times. Quick played out of his ****ing mind.

I don't see any stupid fans here calling for Bernier. Wonder why. Lot of crickets chirping from that corner.

Even with a win you give the impression they lost.

Note to bobafettish: if you score more goals than the other team, you win the game.
