I'm still kind of shocked that the Avs spent assets on Manson. It looked like he was trying to do his dad's team a solid last night
He was really good in the St Louis series. Him and Girard was the best pairing in the game until Girard got injured. Him and Jack Johnson just do not work together.

Such a weird game.

1. Oilers got what they wanted and scored first. Kane too.
2. Avs got what they wanted and forced Woodcroft to pull Smith.
3. Dave Manson likely tipped the Oilers to his son’s tendencies so Josh was off for the Avs.
4. Really interested to see what JB rolls with on the Avs D in game 2. Please substitute Ryan Murray for Jack Johnson.

I mean McKenzie agrees it’s a good goal and he’s pretty well respected.

So when a team dumps a puck in from outside the blue line when their teammate is in the offensive zone; should the refs blow the whistle too? delayed offside be damned!

LMAO

It was a good goal.

They can be, I think that it's a big reason why Carolina was, until game 7, so successful.

They played like ass and still put up a touchdown.
Carolina vs rags? Maybe it was more the fact that they were in the process of blowing a series in which they were up by 2 and lead that series twice?

I’m not even dissing the Oilers here, in some ways they did play like ass and they turned around and put up a good fight. I’m dissing the asinine notion that NHL players are intimidated by crowds.

Sutter seemed to imply that after Game 3 vs. the Flames, that some of the less experienced players were timid because of the atmosphere.

Lol. Been a Warriors fan since the 90s, so yeah I’ve been watching quite a bit lately lmao.

The difference in quality is night and day, and the NBA is light years ahead of the NHL in every way imaginable. Just a superior product. There have been issues in the NBA of course, but at this point in time, the meddling in the NHL is much worse.

The only reason I still even watch hockey is because I know it so well, and have been watching since I was a child. I’m really losing faith in this sport though, and it’s a damn shame because I truly love hockey, but the NHL and their shady antics and meddling and ridiculous controversies and cover ups are ruining it for me. I really don’t have much patience left, and I think a lot of people feel the same way.
I think saying a lot of people feel the same way is extremely subjective. For myself, I feel like Football and basketball are way worse when it comes to effecting games and such. Star treatment and such in basketball for fouls and other calls, football any PI call can basically ruin a game at any point along with unnecessary roughness and holding. I find hockey more enjoyable than either of those and it also has more excitement and physicality than baseball.

Lol the Sportsnet panel refered to as “experts”
Did you even watch the video? Literally the first thing that is said is, "So Elliotte, you spoke to the Situation Room, let's get to the offside. He then goes over what he was told by the Situation Room.
He then literally says, "I'm not an expert of the rules, so I texted some video NHL video coaches" and asked what they thought. He says that all the NHL video coaches back the call of not offside.
The panel was passing along info from the actual experts

Glad to see we can agree that home crowds, while causing some energy don’t really have much effect on players.

I mean thats just wrong. Sutter literally said out loud that the atmosphere in Rogers intimidated some of the players on the flames.

Oilers were also a home power-house in 06 due to the crowd. Often changing series when they came back home.

Sutter seemed to imply that after Game 3 vs. the Flames, that some of the less experienced players were timid because of the atmosphere.
And maybe for less experienced players who haven’t experienced that atmosphere, it could effect them for a shift or two. This is not exclusive to Edmonton crowds, all NHL Playoff teams have loud crowds. If a player is effected from a crown for 60 frigging minutes they are a mental midget.
Home teams can get pumped from their crowd and playing in their barn but that’s the extent of crowd advantage, and it’s an advantage to every home team.

Likely it was Sutter making excuses and trying not to call his players out after going down in a playoff series.

Almost no one is arguing the rule to the letter of law. Its just asinine rule that is poorly written and it this specific application goes against common sense and the spirit of the rule.

What they are saying is not wrong, but the rule was not meant for a play like this and has some strange implications.

To be fair, Im not even that mad about the goal - Oilers couldnt hold a lead for more then a few seconds anyways, they deserved to lose. Just think the rule is bizzare and goes against the basic logic I had when it came to hockey.

He's been phenomenal all playoffs for us, until last night.

And while he was bad last night, don't underestimate the impact having Jack Johnson as your D partner will have either.

He has literally made every player he's played with worse this year.

Sure, maybe not 60 mins, but if it throws up the opposing players off the opening faceoff for 10 mins and gives the home team a jump that is a clear advantage when the margins are so slim in playoff hockey.

What’s more concerning is that Woodcroft failed for the 3rd series in a row to have his team ready to start the series
