Nurse and Smith have cost us soooo many games. Jesus f***ing Christ lol

Good games, Avs fans. No animosity from me, you guys got a very solid team. Best in the west for sure.

You can blame Smith all you want, he made some huge saves last night. If it wasn't for Smith Avs would have won like 8-2 or something. Edmonton offense has gone to sleep. You gotta score goals

what are the oilers gonna do about nurse? he is absolutely awful and now they got him on his big contract. Rip

The way I see it is that Nurse learns from this experience and grows as a player or that will be one bad contract on the oil's cap

Okay Avs can play with Georgiev as their goalie if the Rangers make it to the final.
I wouldnt be too cocky, avs have had an incredibly easy road.

They faced the worst playoff team nashville, who lost their vezina competitor and had to start sub .900 rittich game 1 who was so bad they went to a rookie with 3 games of nhl experience(and wasnt evem good in those 3 games) to start games 2-4.

They they faced the blues who lost their top lh defenseman faulk, and another top 6 lh defenseman, and were starting calle rosen on the 2nd pairing most of the series. And lost their goalie that was hot in the playoffs which is when series appeared to turn in avs favor. And blues still gave avs some pressure despite that.

Now avs are facing team with subpar goaltender, and a weak defensive core where their #1 defenseman is so physically compromisted that hes probably hurting the team by playing much less leading the team in minutes.

To be fair, the rangers have had their luck too which matchups as penguins was starting their 3rd string tender and nearly beat them. Then carolina almost beat them without their #1 goalie(although to be fair their #2 raanta played pretty well most the series and wasnt really a major factor of why they lost series), and now are facing team missing their #1 center.

Alright now look at our bottom 6. Foegele/McLeod/Puljujarvi are salvageable players but they don't have a pair of hands between the 3 of them. Kassian is an outright liability and another Ken Holland Justin Abdelkader special. Josh Archibald is the absolute single worst player in the NHL who analytically is a bigger outlier as a negative than McDavid is as a positive and the only reason he doesn't harm the team more is b/c he plays 5 mins per night. The top 6 is good but McDavid/Draisaitl are making Kane/Hyman/RNH look better than they actually are, which would be fine if we didn't support that top 6 with a non-human bottom 6, a non tire fire defense, and 2 non coinflippers in net.
McLeod and Ryan look like the only legit NHLers in the entire bottom 6.

Avs are in win now mode and got Lehkonen who bumped someone down into the bottom line and Cogliano. So the Avs no question have more depth. But with Kadri Bura and NAK injured the bottom 6 advantage can be overcome.

The Avs main advantage is going to be gone in the finals and when the Avs get blown out everyone will be wondering why Edmonton blew their chance against such a "bad" team.

f*** you Kane, you dirty piece of shit.

f***. I hope it isn't serious and he is able to come back. Avs are gonna need everyone they can get against either Rangers/Tampa

Girard is already done for the season. Bura gotta draw back in and so does Kadri hopefully

Rantanen heating up at the right moment now should mitigate a bit but Avs are gonna need all the help they can get.

The Oilers window isn't open in the first place b/c we have a garbage general manager in Ken Holland who doesn't even have an analytics department and allocated 19 million in cap hit between Nurse/Keith/Barrie. We actually just don't have the cap space to fit in any more depth b/c we have an overpaid #2 dman and 2 Marc-Andre Bergeron clones taking up a quarter of our payroll. We're probably unironically better off praying guys like Holloway/Broberg can turn into Byram esque studs who become impact contributors on ELCs. Chances are you're not getting better players at comparable cost.

Chris MacFarland should be looking for a GM job in the next few years right? Wanna send him over? Maybe he can convince Keith to retire.
New gm in the best few years to convince kieth to retire who only has 1 year left??? Nice call

The angering part is he can be Roy one minute and Fiset the next. Consistency is lacking in Smiths game. I’d rather he play like a 75% goalie instead of 90% one minute and 50% the next. It’s super frustrating as a fan lol

And our defence can’t make a pass to save their lives. It’s heart wrenching.

Edmonton's strength is offense, oilers are not a defensive or defnese first team. Oilers haven't gotten their offensive game going expect perhaps the 1st game of the series. Avs adjusted to take away neutral zone speed game of the oilers.

Oilers gotta find ways to dump and recover pucks quickly; so far I haven't seen oil do anything different offensively. THey are doing the same thing again and again and its not working. Avs on theother hand are content if oilers want to keep on donig the same thing again and again offensively though

Imagine making it to the WCF only to put on this embarrassing performance and about to get swept? I wouldn’t want any of those players on my team, even no show McDavid. Guy is a loser and will never win a Stanley cup.

If the Oilers can spend 5 million on Ken Holland we can spend 6 on someone who actually values analytics and isn't a dinosaur. I'm sure Chris wont mind the pay raise ;)
You missed the point, not to mention the oilers just got the the furthest they have in 16 years and we are complaining still. No wonder we can never have nice things

Lol it’s tough with the Avs speed and talent on the blue line. We can’t abuse them like we did other teams. Avs are a very well built team and it’s showing.

We got to the WCF in spite of Holland not b/c of him. Montreal went to the finals last year and canned Bergevin anyway b/c going to the Finals didn't change the fact that Bergevin was a trash general manager.

True but that is when you adjust your game plan though. Oilers are running the same thing again and again and hoping it will work. Avs' defensive game is giving oilers fits; so oilers should change the way they approach offensive zone.

Slow the game down a little; chip and chase, dump pucks and recover.

Also notice how quickly Avs get the puck out of their zone especially when McDavid is on the ice; they dont even care about possession; they just chip/lob the puck out as quickly as possible to kill McDavids 40 seconds shift by shift; meanwhile Oilers are trying to paint a possession based Picasso when Mack and co are on the ice.

This is 3 games in a row that I've noticed this. If I was a GM I would slap the stupid out of Woodcroft. Everybody can see it except the coach LOL

They lost by 1 goal twice to the best team in the league, Col is the team that exposes Edmontons lack of defensive skill and goaltending, no shame

DAMN Blues fans just reading your posts. Just WOW

You do know that Avs are winning without their top4D, #1G and now two top6 guys out (Bura, Kadri).

Sometimes you just gotta tip the hat to the other team man. Jeez

Oilers have needed a goalie for so long its mind boggling.

With the additions of Hyman, Kane this year. A stud in net they would be seriously contending. They still probably wouldnt beat the Aves.........but they would have made it interesting and not be getting swept.

They gave up 40+ shots and basically half of them grade A scoring chances.

Untill they fix their defense they are going nowhere.

That’s the worst Dcore in the top4 I can think of by a country mile

Did they fire Bergeron after the Stanley cup finals or after an abysmal start to the next season?

This was the first year Holland had an opportunity to do anything and he had more good moves then bad ones. Hos biggest mistake was not addressing the goaltending issue and that is showing at this time of year

the Sakic, Yzerman GM’s are so good. The Rangers Gordon did a really nice job, they were too patient or Dolan was impatient with adding brawn. Honestly, it was wrong to have so many kids out there without a policeman or protection.

Avs, Det and a growing power in LA too.

Wings, Kings and Rangers are the team of the future as it stands right now IMO. Darkhorse: Sens, Sabres if they don't F up

Habs drafting wright and having Wright, Suzuki as a 1-2 punch down the middle may be one of those teams too but their goalie/defense situation is not that good IMO

Also as a Leafs fan I am obliged to hate the habs with everything I got. But that pos org keeps on adding people I love and cannot hate. Price being one of them and now they added St. Louis. Its just wrong!
