Avs showed a lot of class in the face of the Oiler goonery. Really impressed with this team, and I hope they can close this out in four. They played understandably rattled w/ the injury early and it has to be hard to adjust. Hopefully they can regroup and close it out!
The biggest leap for them this year has been their mental growth imo. They've had this ability for several years but this year they just haven't been suckered in to mind games. Every guy just skates away, let the opposition get worked up but don't engage. They've been just as physical as every team they've faced but keep it between the whistles.

All 3 goals Smith let in were stinkers. He made some really big saves as well, but they need more than that out of him.
Did you not see both goals Francouz let in today? You can make a solid argument that they were as bad as the ones Smith did. The third goal for Compher and McDavid's first goal are the same, it just happened at distinctly different times of the match.

Have a hard time giving Kane the benefit of the doubt given he’s got a history of going high multiple times these playoffs let alone beyond. I just knew he was going to injure someone this series.

He's been telegraphing his intentions for several games now. DOPS is a joke.

I literally called it yesterday. I was at work all day today hiding the score staying offline hoping to watch it for real, but I had this feeling to ask my dad if someone got injured. Didn’t have to ask who did it

He deserved a rest of post season ban at this point, in the off chance the oilers come back this series. He should be done. He went high on Kings important players, did on Makar, and now this.

I’d like McDavid to win a cup, but not most of his teammates

Elbowing and headhunting from previous games don't really require minority report tech tho
Ah. So you're just saying that he should have been suspended for non-suspendable plays. If we're suspending players for the likelihood of doing something suspendable in the future, then Kadri wouldn't have even been in this game, so there's that.

...or...

You're picking your spots regarding dirty play, but Kane's hit deserved the major and may deserve/receive supplementary discipline. An interesting thought on this particular play is that for all of the people talking about how dirty this specific type of play is, the result is never thought of as an arm injury. That's because this play, while still bad and possibly worthy of suspension, is not the same as the plays that Bednar calls the most dangerous play in hockey.

Food for thought.

This is a lot of words to defend an absolute piece of shit both on and off the ice, so well done.

Try to be at least a little bit rational. I'm fully acknowledging that it's a bad hit that could very well earn a suspension. I'm not defending him on this play at all. But I will push back against the fantasy that he should have been suspended for other non-suspendable plays in the previous game. You apparently know that it's fantasy since you can't even argue that point and instead pivot to broader character perceptions of the player in question which are irrelevant to any actions that DOPS could have taken prior to this play.

It's crazy how many people say "I"m not defending him" and then go on to defend him.

Ok, you're the exception right?

So, he should DEFINITELY be suspended now, right?

Bad bounces in Game 3 for Edmonton, but Smith made a nice blocker save near the end.
However, Edmonton needs better goaltending. Without better goaltending, they can't win.

What a turn of events; McD with a grade A chance, the Bouchard post, then a bad goal by Smith. Had the Oilers scored that could've changed the whole dynamic of the series. I'm not an Oilers fan, but I can't help to feel disheartened for their fanbase.

I can't get on Smith for the first two goals, some puck luck there, but that third one he had to have.

I said it to start this series, the DK injury was a blessing in disguise. Francouz' lateral mobility is a game changer, while DK looked like he was fighting the puck for much of the playoffs.

Refs should have been hyperaware of his EOG behavior in G2.

Kane is total garbage. That penalty destroyed any momentum you guys had in this game. You got lucky the Avs didn't put up 2-3 goals in that major.

There's no place for garbage in the game. Someone will stupidly overpay him and let karma have its way with that franchise as well.

Garbage player.

Well, I already voted in the poll that he should. Would you also now agree that the pre-emptive suspension that you suggested is a ridiculous notion?
Absolutely. Pre-emptive to any wrongdoing is ridiculous. But that's not what the situation is.

If they had acted in suspending him after the obvious arm-swing elbow on Makar last game, we wouldn't be here now.

We can go forward in agreement that he has no business playing in game 4.
