Refs should have been hyperaware of his EOG behavior in G2.

Kane is total garbage. That penalty destroyed any momentum you guys had in this game. You got lucky the Avs didn't put up 2-3 goals in that major.

There's no place for garbage in the game. Someone will stupidly overpay him and let karma have its way with that franchise as well.

Garbage player.
I'm having trouble following what people think should have been done here. You say the refs should have been hyperaware...but to what end? And how do you know that they weren't hyperaware? The league suspends (at least in theory) for things that players do. Not for what they might do in the future.

Isn't MacFarland the main guy for that stuff? I thought he was their top guy at telling Sakic who to grab.
Hshh, this MacFarland person you're talking about does not exist:nono: Move on, folks, nothing to see here:teach2:

Many of us hope Sakic will retire upwards in the organization, so MacFarland can be the GM before he's poached away.

The Oilers bench should have been warned ahead of time.

They also shoul dhave given a game misconduct and DQ'ed him right then and there.

He's a pox. Any team that signs that scum should get what's coming to them.

That's all I got...good talk.

Absolutely. Pre-emptive to any wrongdoing is ridiculous. But that's not what the situation is.

If they had acted in suspending him after the obvious arm-swing elbow on Makar last game, we wouldn't be here now.

We can go forward in agreement that he has no business playing in game 4.
I didn't even see Avs fans talking suspension after the elbow in Game 3 - and if they really thought that, there definitely would have been a thread about it (See: Kassian noogie thread). This is hindsight bias.

As for him taking a seat in Game 4, it's warranted.

Anyways, hope Naz is okay, he's been a force this year. Hate to see that kind of injury especially in the playoffs.

Twas a GG tonight, Avs played a really solid road game, easy to see how they are undefeated on the road.

Smith and Bouchard on the 3rd Avs goal, woof... that was back breaking.

Avs Top 4 D are absolute studs, Oilers can't get anything going against them. Its especially apparent after watching the McDavid, Drai, Kane, and Hymen walk all over LA and Flames D, Avs have something special. The scary part is Avs have cap space and some crucial cost-control years ahead of them to keep this whole squad together. They're going to be a very tough team for the conference for years to come.
Actually, this is the last year with a good cap situation. We have about 27 million available for next season, but won't have close to the same team we have this year; Needing to sign a starting goalie and an entire 2nd line, that cap space dissappears real fast. And after next season, Mack needs a new contract, so that'll be the definite end of having a decent cap situation. This year is by far our best chance of winning the Cup.

In that case, the refs should just give a blanket warning to all teams before all games, since a significant portion of playoff games end like that. From the looks of things, the rule for boarding didn't allow for a game misconduct in this instance. I didn't review the whole rule myself, but apparently, they can only issue a game misconduct if there is a major penalty and a head or neck injury.

This series is over. And it should be over for Drai. Man, it hurts me see him play. Makes no sense anymore to risk a long term issue as a professional athlete.

I remember how everyone celebrated Karlsson as a warrior, but in the long run it just doesn't pay off. Drai looks awful out there...

And congrats to the Avs, really strong showing. Makar is unreal. 👍🏻

I cant say for the flames, but as a Ducks fan I also watch a ton of Kings games as well. Don't let their shot totals fool you. That team shoots from EVERYWHERE and most of them arent quality chances.
I know - that was my point. The poster I responded to said "Avs put up 40+ shots in all three games. It definitely is 'men against boys'" as though shot counts are enough to make such a definitive claim.

I’m sure he watched the games too

Edmonton will never do anything if they don’t rebuild their defense or defensive play.

Just abysmal.

Don’t put that on goaltending

Blues fans love finding excuses. Colorado won this game without Girard, Kadri or Kuemper. That's their 2C, top 4 defenseman and their starter. What's St Louis' excuse?

Kadri& Girard are fair but to be honest Kuemper hasn’t been impressive at all.

As one sided as expected. Not boring because Avs are entertaining.

The other team here hardly shows up. LA or Calgary would at least steal one game i think.

Nurse and Smith have cost us soooo many games. Jesus f***ing Christ lol

Good games, Avs fans. No animosity from me, you guys got a very solid team. Best in the west for sure.
I think Smith has been ok just not great. Last game was pretty much exactly what you would expect out of him, makes saves he shouldn’t but then lets in goals he shouldn’t, bobbles the puck multiple times but then makes two great passes to players at the Avs blue line, somehow ends up with a .929 etc. Thats Smith in a nutshell.

Nurse has been really bad though, definitely the biggest liability the Avs have played this playoffs. If he’s so injured that he can’t even play at a NHL level he needs to just sit, it’s like it’s an Avs power play when he’s out there.

The problem with Smith is no matter how good he is playing, he is always good for 1 or 2 absolute stinkers to go in and always at the worst time. See the 3rd goal tonight. He is the definition of momentum killer.....

This is true but you should never be that upset with the goalie putting up a 0.929 after getting over 40 shots against for the third consecutive game.

Smith has done enough for the Oilers this series, it’s the defence and second line that is losing it for them. The Avs are getting a crazy amount of scoring chances, eventually they will score on them no matter who is in net.

The defence in particular needs a complete burn it down style overhaul.
