Supernova at 312. That's just silly. It's a perfectly fine pop song but it has nothing on any of the best tracks on Exile.
When I first heard Liz Phair, it was when she went all in to being alt-pop, didn’t realize there was a completely different career before that.

I don't think she has any more cuts from Exile left on the list, just her worst / most popular song. The only one that I think could have been a contender (and which is on my list) is radio-unfriendly to the point of being unplayable. It's ridiculous that one of greatest albums by a female singer-songwriter maxed out so early on this list. I almost wish I could go back in time and launch a major campaign for f*** and Run just to see how XPN would handle it.

Hanging on the Telephone at 309. That probably would have been on my list of 20.

They shouldn’t have an aversion to playing it despite it being radio unfriendly. They played Untouchable Face and forgot to edit it.

Running Up that Hill is probably a lock for #1 on this list, especially considering what happened in 2022.

I'll admit that i'm not all that familiar with Liz Phair's discog but i don't have anything against Why Can't I? I prefer that song over a lot of similar pop from around that same time. I should probably acquaint myself with some of her early stuff though.

I could see it near the top but I don’t think it’ll be #1. But if that makes the top 10 I’d be pulling for it.

But there’s 2 songs I would bet on to be #1

Respect by Aretha Franklin
Angel of Montgomery by Bonnie Raitt

Stevie Nicks is good but I liked Christine McVie better. Also Merilee Rush should be on there somewhere.

Bjork, Natalie Merchant, and Brandi Carlile within 10 minutes is pretty awesome.

At long last! My 4th song off my list is finally played. I had to wait 210 songs to hear Only You by Yaz at #274, which was my #10 song

Least Complicated by Indigo Girls was an 11 and may be my actual 11 as at one point I had it typed into the form.

Violet by Hole is next. This is an awesome set.

I want them to do follow up list of non-English music.

This is evil.

I've got Édith Piaf, Nina, Cesária Évora, Shonen Knife, Otoboke Beaver, and then I'm reaching for opera and women doing Brassens covers. Does the woman that used to sing with Leningrad until she got tired of being harassed count?

I'm imagining thousands of people turning their radios off as Renata Tabaldi or Dalida blasts through their heads.

Maybe I've underestimated this crowd and they'll head into the deeper cuts.

I'd love Dance of the Seven Veils but they'd have to make a small edit. I haven't checked, did 6'1" or Glory place yet?
The hope here is that all the XPN listeners are too smart for their own good and decided to big brain their selections so much that they actually got some things right towards the top of the list.

There are too many people responding for longshots at the top. The Top 10 in some order is going to be:

Respect
Dancing Queen
Heart of Glass
Nothing Compares 2 U
One Kate Bush song, probably RUTH but maybe Wuthering Heights
Rolling in the Deep
Son of a Preacher Man
Fast Car
Video Games
Strange Fruit

If there's an upset, it'll be something like Sweet Dreams or Like a Prayer replacing Billie Holiday.
