Take a great song and overlay it on footage of a young Jennifer Connelly*, how do you go wrong?

*Not that there is anything wrong with her since either.

Speaking of which, this new Districts song gave me a bit of a Seagullsy/80s vibe once the chorus kicks in for the first time. Little overproduced IMO, especially for the Districts, but it's kind of catchy at least?

Don't always respond/like but I appreciate the different suggestions, when I have the time to cycle through.

I find myself always a fan, lovely version.

One thing I was here to do, since I did this in another thread, is share this:

This is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard on the first time I heard it. It feels like it’s in the future, and yet brings the comfort I felt in late-00’s showgaze/dream pop maybe even dark wave. Especially since that’s in around when Beach House made their hay, they’ve been kind of off the map for the better part of a decade.

I unabashedly like U2 up to and including Atomic Bomb. That was their last real crackerjack album, and I think it gets underrated beyond the massive singles. Anyway, Team U2.

I'm not going to go into a giant screed about them again, but most people who bash them have no f***ing idea what they were for the first 15 years of the band's existence. It's really ridiculous. It's perfectly fine to not like them, but to act like they are some self-aggrandizing pop group is really f***ed beyond belief. And it's really funny to see someone praise like The Smiths or Joy Division and act like U2 is uncool lolz. They are the exact same, except U2 lasted long enough to get old and lame(-ish).

I think a lot of you would appreciate this.

Its a Youtube Top 40 Alternative list updates weeky. I've discovered a ton of great stuff from this the last year or so.

New Alternative 40 Chart [Updated Weekly]:

I know it says Mitski here but if you click that it will take you to the list.

What if they're all unlistenable to you and always have been?

Please note I didn't say bad before you disembowel me. My personal taste has nothing to with quality.

Yeah, like I said - I have no problem or argument with someone not liking them - there's no accounting for taste one way or the other. It's just when people act like they are a joke and have ALWAYS been a joke that my hackles go up. From 1976 to 1987 you might be able to find people who didn't like them, but there was nobody whatsoever acting like they were a joke. And even people who didn't like them after that in large part did so because they "got too big" with "Joshua Tree." Then the Fly happened and the hating became more understandable, but he's just a massive self-conscious ultra sincere Catholic dork who doesn't have any idea what to do with himself - it's not an actual ego. It makes for good jokes though, which I understand.

I actually do think it is super weird to find "War" or "The Unforgettable Fire" unlistenable

I had to Google the latter. I'm sorry.

It's all so aggressively fine. There's probably a pretty good Star Wars parallel where I would never describe either as a particularly positive or negative experience were it not for how often I have to hear about it. It could be the rep I will never understand pushing it all away from me.

Yeah, I get that. I had about 45 dickheads trying to push "The Wall" on me for about 10 years.
