They are actually TOO awesome. It scares me.

Would you believe I forgot to buy tickets this morning until it was too late and they sold out? :laugh:

You could maybe find tix on the secondary market, I guess. The important thing is not whether or not you see them - the important thing is that they exist.

Yeah im gonna keep an eye out but im not hopeful. Plus side is im seeing Khruangbin at this spectular new venue The Met the following weekend.

Wait, they have shows there? Since when?

2019 I think. I saw Tim Cappello there in September of 19. They were shutdown most of 2020 due to Covid then the first half of 2021 due to structural work that needed to be done per city inspectors. I believe the venue is owned by Philadelphia native and famous producer Diplo. Look up PhilaMOCA.

I'm not going to go into a giant screed about them again, but most people who bash them have no f***ing idea what they were for the first 15 years of the band's existence. It's really ridiculous. It's perfectly fine to not like them, but to act like they are some self-aggrandizing pop group is really f***ed beyond belief. And it's really funny to see someone praise like The Smiths or Joy Division and act like U2 is uncool lolz. They are the exact same, except U2 lasted long enough to get old and lame(-ish).

I never pondered this. But consider the legend of Joy Division, and consider now what the myth of U2 would be if their plane exploded after they put out Joshua Tree. People would talk about how they would have been the Beatles combined with Pink Floyd and Rolling Stone.

Is there any particular Phoebe Bridgers album I should investigate?

@GKJ I assume this is a thing you'd know

Yes. They are both pretty good, but the better one IMO is probably "Punisher," by a hair. My favorite song she does is a cover of Sun Kil Moon's "You Missed My Heart" - it is tremendous, but it is on the other album, "Stranger in the Alps." They are both understated and pretty quiet, but there are nice moments all over the place. "Kyoto" and "Motion Sickness" were both "singles" or whatever you call them now, and they are both good. "Chinese Satellites" is very good. Just listen to both albums, there isn't a huge difference between them.

She only has two, Stranger in the Alps and Punisher. Punisher is probably the one to start with if you're looking at just her stuff but pretty much a coin toss.

If you want to listen to some of her collaborations, there is also boygenius (with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus) or Better Oblivion Community Center (with Colin Oberst). Personally, I really like boygenius.

You can refine it even further than that. Imagine if their plane exploded after they put out "War." People would build cathedrals in their honor.
