They needed both badly, and Lucic has been one of the few positives among the forwards.

There hasn't been any opportunity to replace Voynov. Hard for Lombardi to force that situation.

What defenseman would we have gotten back for the Lucic package? Seriously, a minor league defenseman, a goalie whose going to be nothing more than a backup, and a decent 1st. What team would give up a top 4 defenseman for that package?

I haven't given up on the Kings and I think some on this board forget the slump we had in 2014. Yes, the Kings have bigger problems now (defense, blowing leads, etc.) than it did then, but I still have confidence that they'll turn it around. Just hope we make a move or two.

You're right probably not a good one but still some decent assets to give up for a rental Lucic when you don't have many assets to begin with.

And there's the rub. Nobody is going to give up a dman similar to Voynov without much more going the other way and realistically who would give up someone like that? Every team needs guys like that.

Lucic was the perfect and better option to replace Williams, who we all knew wasn't coming back.

Jones really wasn't much of an asset. RFA, and wasn't going to be the starter here. A mid 1st round pick, which can be hit or miss, but most likely won't know either way for a few years. Then a young right handed defenseman, which the Kings could use, but he's probably not yet the Voynov replacement you're talking about.

Maybe they should've kept Miller, the 1st, and signed Lee Stempniak or whatever, but who was knocking down that door?

Pretty much this. And you have guys like Pearson or King who really can't be counted on to be top six forwards so you have a slew of players on this team who have difficulty finding the net.
